Yes but they are now foreign-owned, staff has been slashed and hardly any remaining shop floor workers are locals.

I would just like to point out that the Dover Forum are only a few in number and the views given out on it are also very few, there are many 1000s out there we do not know how or what way they are thinking .So we should not think that the views on this forum or any forum are the views of the public, but only its own members.

Well that's a step in the right direction as that was certainly the case a couple of years ago.

well most of the the people live locally even the eastern Europeans as many settled, even few years back not a majority, as been there for more than several years. Even agency, but then it is the old chestnut that many locals do not want to do what they class as a rubbish job and happy to live of social.

One of the things that I noticed yesterday amongst the posters adorning the walls was the claim that government approval and planning permission had been obtained. If that had been true then why would they need to start up a petition to get approval from the townspeople?

Well over 300 objections on the planning application probably about 4 from this forum. All over social media too and any attempt to suppress further discussion on the subject will prove futile.

Vic, we respond simply because you keep giving the opposite opinion to the majority of forum members.

Not just the forum Jan, the mood around town is that DHB have gone one step too far on this one and must be stopped.

A really enjoyable day at the Regatta yesterday and a great job by all those involved in organising and supporting. There was no petition - simply an opportunity for people to leave their email address if they wanted to be kept informed of the plans.

It was a great Day at the Regatta and the Pier was well used too :D
Enjoy whilst you can.... I would appreciate to modernise the pier and give it the well needed update, but removing it from the public will be a sad end of the POW
Whoever makes the decision on this ... hope they do it with the right frame and state of mind.
My last input on this subject.
