I didn't want to say that Karl but the business connection has been commented on elsewhere. The report says that the Town council have all turned their coats inside out so we will have to wait for their official announcement.

I bumped into Sue Jones in the town this morning and she was very angry indeed. Obviously the 600 jobs carrot has been waved under the town council's nose and they have swallowed it hook line and sinker. Pie in the sky.

One winner and that is Dover.Mr Garstin I think it is time you and your small group stop now ,and get behind what will be the best thing ever to happen in the port, but even better then that ,The Town of Dover will again return to being a very good place to shop and live in.If companys grow in the town and district it will bring the jobs and money Dover needs ,

The illusion of 600 jobs was there when the Town Council were clear in their rejection of the planning application, what has happened iso suddenly 2 days before the meeting that has made them change their collective minds?
The whole thing stinks.

There was no illusion it will make jobs,in fact already doing it there will more then the 600jobs when it is all done. When business and companys, from outside Dover start seeing the town grow they to will want to move here bring even more jobs and needed cash and more of the public. Its a win ,win, all the way for Dover.
Years ago this was just a dream but it is now going to happen, as I am getting on in years now I might not be around to see it all happen.
But just to be at the start of it will make me die a happy man.
Its time to put all this infighting and shouting about who is right and who is wrong and all groups and the pubic get behind the councils and the D,H,B, and help them to turn Dover into a town we can all be proud of.
I do not care if you hate or dislike me so do not wast your time by keep on running me down ,its is not about me it is about your town and district .yes the D.H.B. have not all ways got it right and like yourself I was very upset when they got rid of their own very good workforce they were good tradesmen I know because I worked with them and some were my work mates. But again that is all behind the port now, and the ones running the port are not same members that were there then .
The D.H.B. as it is now, does take in what it has been told by both the councils and public and they are bending over backwards to help and bring both the Town and the port closer with each other. And it is working so as I said join up with them and make a mark in history that will be there for ever.
I have said more then I was going to so will stop now.
Thank you.

The minutes of the Meeting of the Dover Town Council re The Pier U turn should make interesting reading. Was it a recorded vote? Did certain members declare an interest.?
Where planning is concerned you have to be very careful.

Good points raised by Sue, even the Town Council admit that the end of the pier will be inaccessible to the public after the work is done.

I think we need to know whether Neil Rix spoke or voted at the meeting, if so a conflict of interest arises. I don't know if the Standards Board for England still exists.

Best thing is to go and aske him you know where his yard is ,he is a very nice chap to talk to.
Why say us when you mean yourself .
I do not need to know .There was no need to put it on the forum go yourself and find out.

I think Howard was referring to DTC residents, which doesn't include yourself.
Using your logic you should be going to River Parish Councillors' places of work and asking them what they think - daft idea.

Read my post and get it right this time .I do NOT wish to know what happen.
I have given my own views many time before about the port and the town and there is no need to say it anymore.

I know you don't want to know - I was pointing out how totally illogical is the way you suggest people who do want to know should find out.

This gets ever more murky as a brief look at the Town Council shows a planning meeting set for the 16th and even now doesn't show an agenda let alone minutes. Why so secretive?
A post on social media shows the Mayor stood his ground whilst councillors Pam Brivio, Ronnie Philpott and Roger Walkden sold out and approved the demolition.

Vic I agree with you. You have given your views and there is indeed no need to repeat them further.

If the meeting and agenda had been put on the DTC website I would have attended and requested a speaking slot.

Has anybody spoke to Mr Rix ?

Doubt there is any point Stu most are interested in independent accounts of proceedings, from what I have heard so far he didn't cover himself in glory. Two of the planning committee are members here and know what happened but I won't hold my breath waiting to hear.
Just seen post 416 and it says rather a lot about the underhand behaviour.

the cynicism here astounds me.
Just because Mr Rix gets a signficant chunk of his cash each year from the harbour board (who supplied all the scaffold for the old train station?), suddenly changes our town councils directions at the 11th hour? no no no

; nothing suspicious at all? other than the fact clearly something most underhand has gone on here. tomorrow night is gonna be interesting.
ps I hear on the grapevine i hear that things are within disarray at the harbour board recently with half the management team resigning?
