interesting stuff, thanks to the harbour board for giving us the information.
#37 - indeed, Dover deserves a better port, better managed, better focussed, better community engagement.

looking at the list everyone seems to be represented, not sure why the n.h.s. are there though.

I notice that no-one from the local business community was present. I need to check with the office but I don't think an invitation was sent to the Chamber.

It would not have been, Barry. David Foley is on our board and I seem to remember that DHB resigned from the chamber a while ago as a consequence of that. Another set of stakeholders well and truly alienated. Nice to see they've managed to pull the wool over the Bishop's eyes though!
Never in my life have I witnessed the stewards in charge of a public body act so blatantly as if it were a private and personal fiefdom.

You are correct Peter and it just shows how bloody minded and short-sighted DHB are.

I would have called it silly and childish

i am going to have to be the odd one out here, bob and chums were holding a seminar on the future of the dover community port trust.
members and supporters of the dover peoples port trust would have had nothing to contribute.

I agree Howard; those people/bodies who have sided with one or the other, can't (shouldn't) expect to be invited to the others' meetings - it'd be like having a spy in the camp wouldn't it ?

Roger/Howard- you both forget that DHB is a public body; you are confusing the interests of its owners (the British people) with the interest of its stewards (the DHB board).

Without Transparency............matters become very murky............it puts the `people` at a disadvantage.
Well, there is a contempt for us.....as if we are simple and dispensable....
Men who met unwelcome early redundancy.....people who loved working for the Port....gone.....the wonderful bustle and hustle of the Port ...the Town with all the uniforms etc...the different ships and so on........
I get on my knees and hope they are in for a very big shock

without wishing to be pedantic looking at the list of attendees again we have the church of england represented but not the catholic church and the girls grammar but not the boys.

There were plenty of 'groups' not there and strangely some that had no special reason to be there. Why the church, why the NHS, why the GGS, why Canterbury Christchurch University?
Seems like a publicity stunt or should I call it a load of old tosh.

Because, Jan, it was a propaganda exercise pure and simple.

I wonder what the individuals camping outside of Saint Pauls would make of the Bishop of Dovers involvement with this new venture of the coporate agenda.
