Well done Howard for pointing that out. John you was wrong on that one +It was aTown Cllr and ex mayor that was going around the Town at that time asking the public to vote for the P/Port.As I said"You can not have one foot in each camp."

He went as I understand it without Town Council permission and he had left the Labour Party. He went as an independant and an ex Mayor,he was representing neither.

is this a case of another local politico using a party label to get elected then changing or dropping the label when it suits?

Bob and I were very good friends until I resigned over what the Town Council were trying to do! He never spoke to me again, and what made it worse was I beat him for the District Council nomination for Tower Hamlets, since then I have only heard snide comments like look at him he thinks he is already Mayor, before last years elections.I didnt stand for that position and never will.
In fact as I understand it Bob was actually a Tory originally from Hampshire until he met Lynn Young,I am red through and through, and would never change parties.

both of them done alright under the red banner john, between them mayor 4 times.
sadly your admirer is of the male gender.
The present reign of the DHB, is showing Machiavellian politics and big business contempt for the Town and it's Officers both elected and un-elected at it's finest,
It will be an excellent thesis study for degrees in the future......
However, observing the constant in-fighting and lack of courage by it's officers both past and present....it is possibly what they deserve, and we have the Town that we deserve...................................

I wouldn't fully agree with the last part of your last sentence Charlie. I do agree that the people of Dover have voted in the Councillors for Dover Town and after all these years and all the stagnation, still vote the same people in.
I believe we ALL deserve a better-run Town; people seem to be wringing their hands and playing at the edges.
The Town, its residents and the visitors all derserve a better Town.

We also deserve a better Port in terms of what it does for the town and its attitude towards the town.

It has been going on since the War....the DHB and the Council have never been seen to co-operate with each other....and there have bee shocking acts against the peasantness and history of this town....whereas co-operation and intelligence would have bought better prosperity even now, in spite of recessions.
The hope that a bigger, better Port would bring secure employment and thus the Town would prosper, has disappeared....If the Town looked as good as the Seafront and the Port...no-one would be constantly debating this...
It is not a case of negativity, or running down everything in thoughts, the facts are there to see....
Luckily in this day and age, we have full communications etc...and can now see how everything is done, and why everything is in the state that it is....
Dover geographical, environmentally has a beautiful/stunning setting, it is the decisions by our elected/unelected officers that have failed so dismally.....and they have over the years not adhered to their elected/unelected office of fighting for the town, but merely and meekly or to their own ends buckled under the power of the DHB...
Yes, I agree with you Roger......and I think these people should only serve for a
one to five year term, so they cannot inflict any more damage...
