I understand that Pat and Pat are still being kept busy every day sorting out and processing the applications so well done to all concerned.
As a bonus I have now found another blog site to avoid like the plague.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong.

thanks for replies on the applications, a little bit surprised that they are still trickling in as i would have expected an initial rush then nothing.
anyway another thing that puzzles me are the apparent delaying tactics of uncle bob and his happy band at d.h.b.
i would have thought it in their interests to move things along in order to get a pay off.

Unless they have realised that they are not going to get what they wanted.

all this prevarication doesn't look good for potential investors in the town.
the governmnent should really have reached a decision one way or the other by now.

We are pressuring all the time jointly with the other stakeholders. Part of the problem lies with the legislation and the voluntary route that DHB took to privatisation after encouragement from the previous government. The legislation assumes that before volunteering for privatisation, the Trust Port concerned will have already sought and gained approval of their plans from the stakeholders that they are tasked to serve the interests of. Quite obviously from the near unanimous opposition to the DHB plans from the stakeholders, this didn't happen. With the Board in favour and stakeholders opposed, but the ball in the Board's court to come up with a proposal that is acceptable to the stakeholders, it is very tricky. Any short cuts could lead to Judicial proceedings in the future with even more cost and delay, which would be even more damaging to the local and national economies.

you have every right to be cynical brian it looks like dhb will get the go ahead for privatisation which would mean that they select the short list and preferred bidder.
then it would just be down to government advisors to approve.

If it looks like DHB are going to get the go ahead for privatisation, what will become of DPPT's shares from 1% of the local district population?
Looks like their 1% support proved a backfire, the Department for Transport will no doubt have been informed by DHB, who must be laughing all the way from Marine Parade to the ferry terminal.

#270-271, they won't get approval because their scheme does not tick all the Secretary of State's 'must have' boxes.

well quite a few of us remain concerned at the lack of support for the peoples port, although without doubt DHB will have a field day, using loads of tactics to secure the future for itself.
1,000 members in such a big venture is hardly going to move things on

dppt clearly stated that in the event of their bid failing and there was any money left over it would be spent on good causes locally.

i think that the government could bend the rules slightly if it means an easier life for them.

So what's to stop D.H.B. being the ones to get govt approval?

#272. Their proposed transfer scheme does not meet the Secretary of State's criteria as laid down following the consultations held in 2010 and 2011.

in short keith no, the issue with ferry company pricing is still unresolved.
what intrigues me is that uncle bob has submitted proposals that don't meet the current criteria.
the inference that i am drawing is that they must expect the criteria set by the transport minister to change leaving them in the front seat.
