I can promise that Guston PC is fully aware of the mental anguish this has inflicted on the residents of St Martin’s and Dover Road. Many have undertaken costly surveys to obtain valuations and sold properties which probably didn’t need to have been sold. Sadly no one takes responsibility for damaging lives or apologises for their mistakes.
Still facing the issues of what happens to the remaining 3/4 of the site. The DfT has no plans for it and neither do HMRC. Assuming it still belongs to the DfT. Guess it’s a case of watch this space. Let’s hope some real thought and communication goes into the next steps.

Sorry Arthur, that wasn't aimed at Guston PC as I know without them this would have happened without anyone wider aware if this, in fact I'm on their mailing list to keep me informed. When I said "local" I meant KCC and DDC, sorry for any confusion or upset.

Andy - definitely realised your comments were in no way attached to GPC. A great pity that our MP didn’t take more interest in these constituents, she’s still patting herself on the back as far as I can tell and looking at this as a victory.

The whole site purchased for the IBF is still in the ownership of the DfT.

#65 Karlos is correct about site ownership being City Corp. It was designated White cliffs Business Park Phase 3. Initially a Dutch company spent heavily on planning a retirement village concept & had many discussions with planning , local health concerns etc. Unfortunately they failed financially so the development never took place. Guston Parish Council we’re well aware of plans.

Guston Parish Council has always been aware of the development plans, however the land in question is currently owned by the DfT. GPC has always been supportive of development that is sympathetic to the area and the residents who will be in the vicinity.

I'd always understood that the land had been acquired by the DfT. Does Mr Watkins, with all his planning knowledge, know something we don't?

Tricky. Although I gather that some see forgiveness as a unilateral act, I feel that it's always nice to be asked. And I haven't spotted a penitent yet.

I think that's the thing, having a sympathetic development close to homes and in the countryside is all people want. Let's hope so.....
On the same matter, what's happening with that massive warehouse hidden behind the car showrooms that is for rent? It looks like it could be made ready for lorries?!

#70 Ray , I was confirming Karlos was correct with former ownership & previous history which the PC appeared warm towards. The main point though was its general planning designation as phase 3 of the Business Park.

GPC was highly in favour of the retirement village that was proposed some years ago and has always been willing to engage in constructive and sympathetic development of this site. Lack of communication has been a difficulty in more recent times. With fortnightly meetings scheduled with HMRC GPC will hopefully be able to keep residents and the local community more fully informed as to the progress on this area. However greater clarity and information is required regarding the rest of Phase 3.

There's a world of difference between 'was' and 'is'!

Rumours abound today that the UK is going to once again delay inbound checks under Brexit - which I guess is why this has been scaled back so significantly? We've no intention of implementing Brexit, have we? To do so simply exposes the damage...

That would explain why every time I walk along the Roman Road, nothing has changed or even started.

Tuesday around 10.00am , lots of suits with protective helmets gathered at the Guston site access. Not local that I recognised, although I’ve been adrift now for 4 years.

Must have been a Tory Party photo-op, Paul.
