The reasons for the delay are quite amusing, that we cannot be bothered to do the import checks required following Brexit.

Speaking with conservative voters in these areas few of them trust this council or anyone involved in this project

Intirguing, eh? I wonder if Natalie will start lamenting the loss of job creation which she was so enthusiastic about?
But on a broader level, there is a need for import checks as the government well knows. The longer we take a relaxed view then the likelier it becomes that the import of fake, shoddy or downright illegal goods will start. I've also been led to believe that WTO rules and trade agreements in general entail import checks to prevent them from being undermined by unscrupulous competitors.

True. However, the principal difference between pre- and post-Brexit concerns EU/Single Market goods and whilst a proportion of these needs to be checked, there is little reason why this has to be near the border under the auspices of HMRC et al. The risk posed by shoddy Single Market goods can be addressed anywhere before the shop shelf and by Trading Standards - as it was up to about 5 minutes ago.

Well, I got an update via email from Guston Parish Council and it's going ahead BUT it's going to be 25% of the original size and restricted to the western end! They don't have much more info as the DfT are not revealing but I predict it will be the field beside the Sports Centre, the Roman Road will be the edge and the two fields beside St Martin's road will be left....
Looks like the rumour I heard about not realising the area wasn't flat might be true..

DfT will no longer be involved with this site. HMRC will be operating a considerably smaller section of the site-approximately 1/4. At present no information as to what will happen to the remaining 3/4. No plans are yet available for consideration. DEFRA are not going to be using any part of the site. This operation is to be located elsewhere in Dover but currently no information as to where this is to be sited as the purchase of land is still being negotiated and is “commercially sensitive “.

There are two arguments here.Aycliffe problems .DHB and Highways England should ensure that lorries are not held all along the approach alongside Aycliffe. The lorries need to be held further back .
The problems with the roads around Whitfield. They continue to build houses move Leisure and shops to Whitfield now a proposal for Freight Clearance to be located here. What was once a green and pleasant country side is slowly being concreted over.Kent is the Garden of England well that’s what I was told when I moved here.I get fed up of seeing our MP having photo s taken trying to tell us what a grand benefit it will be .
The one issue she should sort out and causes tension and frustration and sadly a lot of intolerance is the people crossing the channel in small boats.
The Whitfield round about and the dualling of the A2 should have been sorted years ago .
The wheels turn far too slowly on good projects and too quickly on things that will destroy our country side.

Good post, Sue. But Natalie (like her gormless Home Secretary) Patel can do nothing about the small boat problem until she removes her blinkers. There is a global immigration crisis and we are only at the tail end of it, despite what the Daily Mail and Sun would lead you to believe.
As for the local practicalities, I couldn't agree more.

The only real way is to send our illegal boat people straight back to France, imprisoning them just means they will appeal to stay from there as opposed to wherever they now end up.
As for tick box waste of time only there for the photo Natalie she will go along with whatever lands on her desk, I just hope she does not stand and will fade into obscurity come the next election.
