Indeed - and, to be fair, the previous MP was against this kind of thing, arguing for most checks to be done at or near destination (and quite right too). Not to mention the historical area that is the Roman Road.
They are wrecking enough with the FastTrack when I walked up there a couple of days ago, but at least the terror of thousands of lorries, light pollution, traffic disruption and crashes between lorries and FastTrack buses has been avoided.
Just don't plan on getting to B&Q or the Sports centre when Bastion opens

Why don´t we arrange some sort of Free Trade Agreement with the EU that allows goods to flow between us and them without requiring any checks? Both parties would need to ensure that goods met each others standards, but as we were in the EU not long ago, this shouldn´t be a problem at all

Guston PC continue to promote using the land to produce energy via a solar farm since it is designated as development land - this would provide much needed renewable energy and peace of mind for residents.Guest 3925 likes this - 30 June 2022 20:17377551Someone is REALLY keen to get this fence removed before HMRC and DfT can work out what to do as it keeps getting broken! I had a wander through but the old path is really overgrown and I'm not too sure the fence is broken down at the other end / side, so unsure if you can get out yet!

A new proposed site at Dover was part of that review and, after looking into the amount of cross-channel traffic and the necessary associated checks, a decision was made in June 2022 not to progress that site.

The Department for Transport is exploring alternative options for its development to ease pressure at the border, given the issues with disruption on the strategic road network in Kent and at the ports.
