As for air quality matters I would suggest you contact the technical expert at DDC Brian Gibson or direct your independent expert in that direction.
Plainly you do not think the independent reports required by the MMO meet your requirements.
Paul, everything I have stated is documented and in the public domain. I would suggest you might want to refer to them before posting in the event of any future legalities.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to that report that DHB paid Royal Haskoning to produce which was designed to blind the public with science -pseudo maybe, in the hope the public would not question their paymaster. There was no mention that the MOD would have some input with regards to war graves, very convenient to leave out.

Howard
like you said the DHB have done themselves no justice throughout the media and campaign.
They were poor on answering questions at DTC
that's what I based my decision on, and all the publicity and paperwork that came before me andpublicity on many sites plus research over the months prior to the meeting

My guess is that MMO will announce their decision just before the office party on Friday giving the losers time to calm down before it all restarts in the New Year.

Read elsewhere that the dredger "Barent Zanen" has been seen in close proximity to the Goodwin Sands yesterday and today. There is nothing on the websites of the MMO or DHB to suggest a decision has been made on the possible dredging. Perhaps one of our old sea dogs can throw some light on the matter?

The Boskalis' dredger 'BARENT ZANEN' is still taking sand from the licenced Thames dredging area.
Recently it has anchored off The Downs on a number of occasions probably due to weather considerations as well as tide critical timings due to the present state of the infill area requiring a low tide to work.

Surely the MMO have had enough time to make a decision either way, very frustrating for those on either side of the argument.

I was under the impression that the whole thing was going to grind to a halt in the absence of DHB's coveted Goodwin sand.

The idea is that if they have to pay more by continuing to go elsewhere the goodies promised to us would be snatched away because people were naughty enough to stand up for themselves.

Our local pressure group are meeting the MMO at the House of Commons tomorrow to discuss this interminable issue. Sir Roger Gale, Craig Mackinley and our Charlie will be in attendance along with other worthy East Kent notables.

Goodwin Sands Marine Conservation Zone designation
We hope you will have heard about Michael Gove's recent announcement that Goodwin Sands recommended Marine Conservation Zone (rMCZ) is included in the third and final tranche of MCZs that make up the Government's Blue Belt programme.
This is excellent news for the campaign as the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) have confirmed that Dover Harbour Board (DHB) will now need to undertake a full MCZ assessment, which should include the need to prove that the public benefit from their dredging will outweigh the environmental damage it will inevitably cause.
You can read the whole rMCZ designation document here or just the Goodwin Sands factsheet here
We will be responding as a campaign but we feel DEFRA would really sit up and take notice if as many of our supporters could respond as well. If we can get this MCZ designation put in place now, the threat to the Goodwins from dredging could be well and truly knocked on the head.
Unless you have a PhD in biology or ecology we don't suggest you complete DEFRA's online survey, although we know that a few brave souls have tried. Instead, a short and simple email, written from the heart to
mcz@defra.gsi.gov.uk should do the trick.
