Linda, did Ticketmaster give any more information about where on the seafront the booth is likely to be and when it will be open? Obviously a large part of the seafront will be inaccessible without a ticket!
Many thanks for your help.

DHB are cashing in:

Check out the price of a parking space. The 18th is our wedding anniversary and I had sort of planned a celebration lunch or dinner in Dover.
Not any more. Canterbury, here we come.

......."Obviously a large part of the seafront will be inaccessible without a ticket!".
Ahh don't you just love the olympic spirit eh? Freedom of movement restricted so that someone can walk down the road with a golden ice cream holder.

Why it's......it's absolutely beautiful. They've turned the area into an enchanted forest. A veritable secret garden. Golly I can almost hear the elves hiding in the undergrowth, the mysterious and magical beasts of the night moving stealthily behind the flora and fauna. Why look behind. Is that a unicorn I see? Perchance a griffin?
Ordinary folk will flock to bear witness to this splendid vista and many will come so that they too will be able to tell their Grandchildren that they too saw the giant goldy holey thingy being held aloft to herald the coming of a new age - The age of, erm, fingy sports or something. You know it's on telly and it's being sponsored by all sorts of people. Macsick burgers, coca colic, GS4 and everything.

PaulB had better be careful about posting pictures of that stage once the rings go on, don't want to get the forum closed down!

Yes indeed Ray it is scary what they will do re copyrighting the logo and securing the sponsors exclusivity. Interesting link that.
It spurred me into action. Have now revamped frontpage and added an update of the stage, now green carpet covered, as a sort of work in progress. No Olympic logo as yet so still safe for the moment. No we dont want to be shut down..heavens!
Editorially its probably best now that I just turn the frontpage over to the Olympics for the forseeable...

Still not got our tickets.
Phoned Ticketmaster on premium rate number yesterday (had to wait 10 minutes in a queue) and they said that if the tickets do not arrive by Monday we will have to phone them again on their premium rate number and they will invalidate them and arrange for us to collect them on Wednesday from a collection point.
We asked them to invalidate them yesterday and arrange collection from the collection point but they would not do this even though they said that our tickets had been passed to Royal Mail on 22 June!
Apparently they have had lots of complaints about non receipt of tickets so are making lots of money out of people having to phone on their premium phone number.
It's no good just thinking you can pick up the tickets on Wednesday as, according to the person I spoke to at Ticketmaster, the non received tickets have to be "invalidated".
Dover District Council should really have sorted this out by now.

Try 0161 385 1083 - if you were calling their 0844 number it is not a premium rate number.

Thanks Tony I will try that number on Monday.
I thought 0844 numbers were up to 5p per minute to call from a BT landline but maybe that doesn't constitute a premium rate.

That's correct 0844 is national rate (5p per minute). So, depending on what time of day you call or what charge plan you're on you may find calling 0161 more expensive.

Anyone have any ideas who I should speak to at DDC about where Ticketmaster will be located on the seafront on Wednesday? Thanks.

Linda - You could try Gillian Gayton (gillian.gayton@dover.gov.uk), the officer in charge of it,
or Sue Chandler (cllrsusanchandler@dover.gov.uk), the Portfolio Holder responsible.
