OLYMPIC TORCH EVENT INFORMATION
Ticketmaster will have representatives based at Dover Leisure Centre (Sports Hall) from 1pm on Wednesday 18th July 2012.

No spare tickets are available for sale, however for those people who have purchased tickets via Ticketmaster and who have not yet received them, will be able to pick them up when producing email notification of ticket purchase. As we understand the Card Holder must be present.

Many thanks for that information Kyle.

We still haven't received ours but have not yet phoned Ticketmaster to get the non-received ones "invalidated".

Do you know if it is still necessary for people to do this?

just been thinking here about the forthcoming torch celebration.

paulb is technically inside the event, if he chooses to have a cup of tea instead of bottled water or coca cola will he be liable to prosecution?

No, Paul should be OK with his cup of typhoo or bottle of Evian because a fence is going to be erected along the whole length of The Gateway between the flats and the seafront torch celebration area to keep residents without tickets out!

I've just spoken to Ticketmaster myself and it IS necessary to contact Ticketmaster to inform them if you haven't received your tickets so that they can be "invalidated" and you can collect them from the Leisure Centre on Wednesday.

Those barriers as mentioned by Sue there in 84 are now going up...whole areas roped in as it were, or roped out. Cant get out the front way as all blocked. It is going to be very difficult down here working out how to get to the shop for yer bottle of milk. Anyone trying to park a car has had it. All the seafront car spaces gone, all the spaces at the front of The Gateway also gone..oh dear! Pictures other than aerial ones are now off the cards.

If I go out at all I have fear of not being able to get back in !!!
Time for hibernation...send food parcels!

Just thinking...that picture currently at the top of our frontpage will probably be a rare one.

Update: the eastern entrance to the seafront is now open as of 5 minutes ago. previously several trucks had blocked it off. The actual entrance is just outside my vision..they may have been erecting moveable barriers there. Trucks have moved off and traffic now being allowed in.

Nice of Ticketmaster to let everyone know that they need to 'invalidate' their tickets, surely they know from their system whether tickets have been sent or not... Ticketmaster have been shambolic throughout the entire ticketing process for the Olympics and Torch events!

Thanks Kyle and Sue.

So to obtain my unsent five free tickets, actual cost £10, that I 'won' a few weeks ago, I find out third hand, and not via TicketMaster, and just two days before the event, that I have to ring up, at more cost, invalidate them and attend another location with an e-mail print-out. Why exactly am I paying a booking fee? What sort of service is this?

Please note that Vista Leisure are not coordinating the Box Office... this is down to Ticketmaster UK.

Our leisure centre has been selected as the venue for Ticketmaster to run it's Box Office.

Vista Leisure do not have any tickets in its possesion.

The latest is that the Box Office will be available from 1:30pm on Wednesday 18th July, this will be in the sports hall at Dover Leisure Centre.

OLYMPIC TORCH EVENT INFORMATION
If you have NOT received your tickets for the event on Dover Seafront, there will be a Ticketmaster Box office located at Dover Leisure Centre from 1:30pm on Wednesday 18th July 2012.

Anybody wishing to obtain tickets from the Box Office on the day MUST contact Ticketmaster directly on 08444 999 999 and inform them that you wish to collect from the Box Office. Please note that tickets that were despatched in the post will then be invalidated. You WILL NEED your email confirmation from Ticketmaster and the card used for the transaction.

What if you do not have the card?
Ticketmaster representative said (16/7/12 at 17:40) that if the card holder is not present, you must present a letter of authorisation containing the proof of the card holders address etc. If you are unsure about this, again please use the number above to contact them directly.

Please note that Vista Leisure do not and will not hold any tickets.

Don't attempt to go out PaulB, have no fear as I will bring some food parcels with me tomorrow, that's assuming we can get in! Perhaps you can drop a rope down from your balcony with a suitable container secured at the bottom to facilitate the climb up

New picture added to the frontpage just this minute... newly arrived giant thingy most probably the stage, what we thought was going to be the stage turns out to be...ermm not! the bad news is yours truly has a back view of everything so will see nothing of the stage show. Its enough to make ye spit so it is.

Still, there's always the fireworks!

Glad food parcels coming. Thanks for keeping us up to speed there Kyle..well done with that.

I just received this in case anybody is unclear of what they should do in the event of not having received their ticket(s).

Dear Ticketmaster customer,

This is a courtesy email regarding the Olympic Torch Relay Evening Celebration: Song for Dover event at Dover Seafront, on 18 July 2012.

If you have not received your tickets in the post for this event, then please contact our Customer Services department as soon as possible by http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/h/help.html clicking here. We will be able to ensure your tickets will be held for collection on the day of the event.

Tickets can be collected from 14:00 on Wednesday 18 July from:

Dover Leisure Centre
Townwall Street
Dover
Kent
CT16 1LN

Please note: Entry to the event will only be permitted on production of a valid ticket. Copies of confirmation emails will not be permitted.

In order to collect your tickets you must bring ID with you to prove that you are the original booker. If the tickets are for someone else and you are not attending, you will need to provide the person attending with a letter of authorisation, which will allow them to collect on your behalf.

The letter of authorisation must include:

The name of the card holder.
The billing address provided at the time of booking.
A contact telephone number for the cardholder.
The last four digits of the payment card that was used.
The Ticketmaster booking reference number.
The name of the event.
The date of the event.
The number of tickets that have been purchased.
The name of the person collecting.
The type of ID that the person collecting will provide.
The signature of the cardholder.

That's an awful lot of fuss for a free ticket isn't it. I can't see why they had to make it ticket only anyway, there's loads of room down there. It must be costing a bit putting all those barriers up.

After many attempts on the phone I have finally got through to Ticketmaster to arrange for box office collection tomorrow at Dover Leisure Centre. I'm sure I've spent a lot more than the £2.00 per ticket on phone bills trying to get through to Ticketmaster! Lets hope the weather is good tomorrow.
