Indeed. That also is covered by the HRO.

Thank you Ross for such a sensible and clear reply. #120
I admit to my dislike of DHB mainly because they do little that actually benefits the town and seem to do just what they like and was sorry the Peoples Port idea died.
Although I have never met him, I have always found Neil gave sensible answers to points raised on this forum.

I took over the chair from Neil when he joined DHB’s board, at the request of Sir Patrick Sheehy and Algy Cluff, who had between them injected about £30,000 into the organisation. From memory there were never more than about 1100 members; the cost of holding an AGM in terms of printing costs, postage and advertising was around £8,000, so the subscriptions were pretty soon swallowed up. Additionally £25,000 was spent on a consultant’s study of the town, port and possibilities for the future. This was undertaken by a man who had masterminded the successful revitalisation of Liverpool docks and waterfront so we had high hopes of fresh ideas coming out of it. I resigned the chair in late 2016 after suffering a stroke and as far as I know the organisation has not met since. Having now moved away from Dover I no longer qualify to hold membership so I passed all the paperwork and records to Natalie Elphicke early last year. Even after the departure of the dreadful Tim Waggott the DHB refused to have anything to do with us and with Neil on the board I did not want to rock the boat too much. Neil incidentally was instrumental in getting rid of Waggott and exposing the toxic culture within DHB so he can at least be thanked for that.

Not quite sure about that. Most Dovorians objected to the whole DWDR project but as usual were ignored. There is a pattern to all these failed Dover promises and they all stem from not listening.

You are wrong there sir.most of the public from Dover. and Deal ,and other towns and villages do care where the sand comes from as said many times already the goodwins sands are a war grave and home for a lot of sea life, and even birds and there has already been taken to much sand from the D,H,B over the years, there are other places where they have used before in getting the sand but because of the cost .they want to take more from a war grave.

Developing into a minor local scandal. Indeed, a shame and a waste.

Having worked for their Internal Audit department in 2010, I would advise people not to get involved. But, hey, if you think you can turn things around, then why not?

Sod 'turning things around' it's £26,500 per annum for a few meetings a year ( In 2021, the average salary for the UK was £25,971).

In which case grab the money and donate it to a couple of local charities.
