I think it is a hoax

The document is still available if you access it through the planning portal and select the documents tab on the application summary.
It could still be a hoax. I don't know, but I do suspect, that the DDC portal might upload public comments without necessarily varifying the senders's credentials when sent by email. It seems rather odd that Mr Wiggins comments should be so brief and terse. It's also odd that he should be seen to criticise the development publicly. Wasn't he appointed as the people's representative on the DHB board? A salaried sop to the people's port movement?
The comments from P.Sharrat are a comprehensive summary of why Dover is being short changed once again.

Yes Mr Sherrat very good .I cannot imagine Neil Wiggins would make comments as he is on the board of DHB .

Almost as remarkable is the comment from Mr Soppitt that "some means of disguising the visible elevations of the proposed buildings could be included which would reflect (say) the character of the buildings which occupied the site during the 2nd quarter of C19th".
DTC seems more terse: "Object".

Must be nice to be paid thousands to representative the people of Dover on the DHB board. Anyone know if he is still alive? Probably difficult to find out as he doesn't live here.
Surely DDC have been 'editing' the replies. Can't imagine Dover Town Council would just reply with 'object'

Application for used recycled containers to be used for Motel, Utility, Restaurant/Bar etc on Marine Curve up before DDC Planning Committee this evening.
Do they have the bottle to refuse this completely ill conceived design as currently presented?
At #22 Ray has rightly highlighted the comment on this Application made by Pat Sherratt that Dover is being short changed once again.

The officers recommendation is for approval regardless of strong public opposition. I might be cynical but I can't image for one moment that councillors will override that decision. With our council that sort of thing only happens when the political pressure is going the other way - like Farthingloe and Western Heights for example.

Worth remembering what we were promised:-
"DWDR plans also include a new marina in the outer harbour and a transformed public-realm waterfront to attract a host of shops, bars, cafes and restaurants with Dover's unique backdrop of the harbour, cliffs and castle"
For what it's worth I STILL think the long term plan is to cover the site with an 'ocean village' much like they have done at Portishead (picture below) and around many marinas in the UK (Brighton, Sovereign Harbour etc).
Does anyone really think they have splashed out £200 million (?) to build a couple more berths for banana boats?
Yes, I have been shown the architects drawings in confidence at DDC.

I suspect DHB will do exactly as they like just the same as they have always done regardless of what the people of Dover feel is completely wrong.

The Planning Committee voted. For deferral .Common Sense .With a bit of luck COVID restrictions lifted we may get a public meeting .

The Planning Committee after hearing submissions have deferred both Applications.
To summarise:
Councillors were keen on the overall concept of leisure and retail on the Curve, but expressed concerns over the shipping containers use in the Motel, size of the accommodation (rooms) and the lack of overall public consultation for the whole project.
Needs a rethink.
Got there before me Sue.

Extraordinary. Councillors defer making an unpopular decision a few weeks before election!

#22 that terse comment on the DDC portal is not from me, I did not post it. Thanks for alerting me to someone sending in comments to the DDC falsely using my name.
I've had a say in the port's boardroom with regards to this planning application, which doesn't emanate from the DHB, and made local views on the application quite clear within that forum, as did my fellow community director Samantha.

#25 Dover Pilot, I'm really not hard to find and frequently see members of this forum around Dover Town where I spend a significant amount of my time.

We would have to presume that DHB have given approval for the plans to be submitted? In which case they may just as well be from DHB themselves?

Perhaps DDC should note that pretty much anyone with a rudimentary knowledge of such things can easily 'spoof' an email address.

That is good news to hear but I doubt the board will take much (if any) notice.
