I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Even if Elphicke had secured a Life Peerage before engaging in criminal activity it wouldn't have protected his political career, as his sentence would have resulted in expulsion from the HoL. Labour peer Nazir Ahmed was expelled last November (though he jumped before he was pushed) for '
allegations [my italics] of a sexual nature'. (This, of course, was not connected to his trial for attempted rape and indecent assault, which collapsed earlier this year.)

Whilst this might be true, if post #29 hadn't been posted, with the following #31 #32, then I'm sure this post would have dropped lower into the forum with limited or no further discussion.
If you post something and then get upset because you are challenged or thought everyone would agree with your comments, then the lesson learned is don't post it in the first place.
Not being an Admin, or knowing how this forum works, in other forums where things are never going to get agreement, posts can be closed to no further commenting. Maybe that's the way ahead on this one?

Do you know what makes me laugh about all this chain? If a person who identified as male had posted all the comments about lightening up, or quoting what women (as opposed to men) like to get up to, or suggesting a convicted person wasn't actually as bad as people thought, there would, quite rightly, be outcry.
It's a strange and confusing world....

No it’s not you missing the point Andy, but it’s a waste of time and energy to comment any further on this thread.
I shall be taking no further part in this forum. I have always been truthful and sincere in my motives for participating but cannot make any useful contributions.

Arthur, I hope you mean only this thread rather than the forum in general.
You are one of that rare breed unlike far to many in this group, who does not tend to comment from any political side so make even handed comments as well as giving us local information.

Oh I can comment until the cows come home Arthur, and although I hope you do not stop contributing, I understand and you've probably got more integrity in your little finger than many have in their whole body.
It's a shame that considering the originator of this thread fails to understand the perceptions of their comments, that not everyone agrees with them, but if they can't see it, then you are right, nothing will change.
This is why I struggle to find any politician (or ex politician) worthy of support....
Please keep looking at the forum at least, I've probably got 40 more years in me to comment about my adopted homeplace I first fell in love with around 40+ years ago when I first visited the castle.

Different views are vital so long as it is not just s**t stirring by reopening a hopefully dead thread.
Edit. I wish we had a thumbs down as well as a thumbs up to click on.

But look on the bright side, I seem to have brought fresh challenge and views to what appears to be a very opinionated forum where it's my impression some don't like that challenge.
Whoops sorry, bumped again.
I like the idea of arrows, because then those who worry about being accused of stirring can just click red or green

We certainly need an irony emoji. A turtle in a tin hat would do it.
