From the Kentonline article..... "He said he had paid six months’ rent up front for a one-bedroom flat, valued online at nearly £475,000, in Fulham, south-west London, adding: “That is why I have very limited cash to meet my living expenses.”.....
Limited money means a person should not rent a flat in one of the most expensive areas of London, it seems he still thinks he has the same (dubious) importance as he did prior to his conviction. What a silly man.

I think it’s time we gave this topic a rest.I can’t imagine Charlie would rent in Dover or Deal .Probably more opportunities to find a job in London.

It's an interesting concept - whether the court could theoretically say it's not the State's fault that an individual is living way above their means so should still pay.

Not while he is still in the news and with his now prison background, Sue.
Maybe he is relying on the old boys network but that will only work to a certain extent, character wise he seems to be no Jonathan Aitkin who managed to change his outlook on life.

How can this man be long term unemployed?
I thought the UK was short of labour? Delivery drivers, factory work, farm work etc
If he can't find his ideal job, he should take what he can.

Looks like you have all run out of suggestions to help your former MP to meet his financial obligations. I wonder who will be the first to succumb and break ranks to open a go fund ‘naughty Tory’ page?

Do nothing and nothing happens.

Sorry to state the obvious, but you started this post and I only posted the BBC article because the BBC mentioned Dover, which is what this forum is called?
Unfortunately, like it or not, this convicted criminal will always be associated with Dover.
And my point is that many Dover District residents wrote letters of support and they seem to have all disappeared now.......funny that!

Still bringing Dover into the news;
Charlie Elphicke is pictured for first time since release from prison
https://mol.im/a/10296931
Why can't they call him just an ex MP and leave our town out if it?

Why bother with him at all unless he does something really new and interesting, he is quite simply yesterdays news.

It's of local interest, Karl, me old mucker. It's not like you to get sniffy. OK. Well, not very often.

I posted because I thought the article mentioned he was the ex Dover MP and thought this was the Dover forum?
I thought it might generate sensible discussion about why the Media can't say disgraced former MP rather than ex Dover MP all the time? Jonathan Aitken is described as a former MP so why not Elphicke?
If you are simply wanting to try and prove a point and criticise me, then bring it on, but just remember that this post was started by someone who was supporting Elphicke and thought he was the same as you and me.......
Happy Christmas
