Post 132 has said it all.
I did point my views forward at the time saying "She is the wrong person for the job"
And that has turnout to be right.

Howard, it seems that your informant "from within the town council offices" might simply have been optimistic, why am I not surprised.

no, no and thrice no, we don't want the town clerk to leave, especially as i have paid the deposit on a ducking stool.

Will it be a public ducking or invited guests only?
I'd like to agree with you but then we would both be wrong!!

Next time 'er indoors wants me to refurbish the garden chairs I will take them to the shed, leave them there for a year, not touch them, then put them back! I am sure she will be very impressed!!!

I'd like to agree with you but then we would both be wrong!!

I am left wondering about the fact that this moving was at the weekend. Was this official or perhaps "guerilla" action?

For the Council to get back in favour with the public is(1)Get rid of the town clerk.("2)Put the benches back in their right place

Dover Town will never be classed as "Age Friendly" with the kind of approach that we have had on these benches and the new wavy seats.
If drunks are a problem, then it's up to the Police to sort them out/move them on, not the Town Council.

I would think that the D.D.C. could overrule the town council anyway after all the benches are yours anyway.

They have and the benches are back.
DDC can't insist on DTC removing the wavy seats in favour of more user-friendly ones - ones with backs and sides on.
We have an aging population and more consideration should be given to making Dover more older-person friendly.
