Quote........."The town clerk said the seats restricted the amount of room available during Remembrance Sunday services."
I did not know those benches were so heavy and awkward to move for the short time they might be in the way.
Quote........"Asked whether she would apologise to the Dover folk she had offended, Miss Burton said: "I'm always sorry when people don't get what they want, but in a democracy you need to follow proper processes."
I am sorry but the arrogance of this woman is astounding, there has been no democracy in this decision from what I have read.

I would have thought there would have been a few old soldiers who needed them to sit on?

firstly she says that she is an employee of the elected councillors but seems to make all the decisions.
secondly says the town has a problem with drinkers - thanks for boosting dover's image alison.
thirdly the police have largely removed anti social people from the town centre.
fourthly never have i seen anyone other than families on those benches.
fifthly she has no right to stop the benches being delivered to ddc land.
i will stop at this point.

Exactly Peter - I agree with your comments Jan as well.
I have spoken to Sue about this and it was nothing like Alison describes.
My understanding is that the people of Dover want the benches put back where they came from and they will be, just need to allocate a time for the contractor to re-install them.

I have said many times she was the wrong one right from day one,
She came from a better paid job and high up he ladder then now.
One must aske why?
She is not liked by both the public and other cllrs around her.
She should have gone over the affair with the toilets on the front she is only the officer and the council should put her in her place .
It would not happen in the days I was on the town council

Maybe we should ask who out of our DT councillors agreed (that is if they were ever officially consulted) to the benches being removed on a permanent basis, not that I would expect an answer they have gone very quiet on this subject.

From what I understand, the benches are not the town council's to dispose of, nor is the land on which they sat part of their estate.

time for a strongly worded open letter to madam clerk and dtc, stating that if the benches are put back in place legal action would be forth coming.

I just read the following on Facebook ............
"she's the ex Assistant Chief Executive of the East Lindsey District Council where she held the post from Nov 2007 to May 2010, interestingly, she joined DTC in Feb 2011 with no mention of the missing eight months on her CV. According to info found online she's lasted three years in each of her last four jobs"...............
With luck she will keep her three year record intact.

Glad to see common sense has prevailed if Howard is right.

Perhaps Howard and Brian are going to roll up their sleeves and do it themselves.

The mole in on his chin Martin.
I heard from The Chairman of Dover District Council that they will be put back as soon as the contractor can shedule it - obviously he has scheduled it for tomorrow.
