exactly jan they have been dumped round the back and covered in tarpaulin with clearly no intent of renovating them.
if the subject had not been brought to my attention and then phil hayes taking things further it would have been another example of our town council doing what they fancied against the wishes of people in dover.
i will be keeping a close eye on any progress made.

What a good idea think what could be done with that extra available cash.

I tell you what it makes me feel sick inside that two councils cannot work with each other just to get a few benches painted up and repaired and put back so the public mainly old ones can sit down for a rest and a chat with each other .how can they expect the public to vote for any of them ,I also think that the Town council should go its only used as a kicking thing anyway beween the blues and reds but the roll of mayor should stay because of the history behind the roll of Mayor in the town that roll should be voted by the public only and that person man or lady should be the number one person of the town and district not like we have at this time there is no need to have two going round with chains round their necks ,we only need one person to present not only the councils but the public two, this should be a mayor because as I have already above. In the way I think there is no need to have a chairman of a council district or town to play anypart in that.It would mean because of all the events that person would have to go to that a payment should be made. But that person must be voted by the public.

certainly looks like the two councils do not work together judging by the evidence seen in recent times.
the role of mayor is important and we have had some good ones especially the current one, a council chairman is still needed to carry out formal duties.
in both cases they only go to events where they have been invited and both have full diaries.

There is no answer to the last post .District Chairman play a different role to a Town Mayor.

there is one solution one of them needs to be scrapped either dtc or ddc. On that note looks like dtc does the major errors... why need two?? Never understood this...

we have 3 town councils and various parish councils in the district heike, town councils are essentially parish councils but with a lot more money.
parish councils/town councils have only one statutory duty which is allotments, the rest of the money is spent on what they decide.
i don't know about sandwich but the town councils of dover and deal are politicised and to be frank pretty useless at providing anything useful to either town.
parish councils are made up of individuals that want to do the best they can for their village i.e football pitches, play areas, village halls, public toilets etc out of a tiny budget. i have to say after taking an interest in a few of our parish councils they really make a difference.

Not all parish council are on a small budget,River for one gets over £60.000 per year which the rec/ground takes around £20.000 on its own and over half the parish do not even use it. always makes a lost of beween £18.000 to £20.000 per year.THe only parish I know with a very small budget and must say they are doing the best they can with it is Lydden just over the £10.000 mark and the parish council make evey pound work for Lydden and all the cllrs of Lydden do the very best with that small amount.

Vic, could it be that many of them actually not aware of it, as many seems clueless when it comes to it??
Maybe worth putting a petition in to get rid of DTC??

getting back to benches for a moment the volunteers in connaught park managed to refurbish a whole lot last summer.
a few familiar faces there even a town councillor who prefers to get things done rather than make an issue of things.

thank you Howard. Vic if the current petition is going to be successful, which I sincerely hope. Then WHY not??
I dont see why DDC can handle things like this themselves. Everything and everyone is moving on with the future and enviroment etc why not have a change there and then? Its all started with these benches. What is going to be next?
I dont think a NEXT is needed....
I am in thinking mood... lol not a good mix and Howard knows lol ...
