If between you you cannot sort out a few benches then I would suggest one organisation is the way forward.

the civic blue posts do nothing to lessen the loss of the benches.

If Canterbury and the Medway towns can manage without town councils, so can Dover.

excellent article although sue is wrong or has been misquoted over thirsty people frequenting the benches.

having given this some thought, if dtc had planned to renovate the benches they could have got in touch with the connaught park appreciation group.
everyone knows they have been doing the same at the park, they could have delivered them there and pay the group what they would have paid contractors.

There was a time recently when I dreamt of benches, sad I know but day in day out we were refurbishing the benches at Connaught Park & lovingly paying a lot of attention to the memorial plaques, making sure they were well taped over & then polished up on completion. It was a tough job having to sand them all down by hand, health & safety rules for volunteers. As a lot of you know, I got tennis elbow which needed cortisone injections, laser & physio treatment & took months to heal but never the less I feel passionate about the benches in Dover. Whether they are in & around the town, on the seafront or in parks etc they are very important to the community of Dover & should be widely available for all to sit & enjoy our surroundings.
I for one hope that we will see these benches once again back in place refurbished & complete with their loving memorial plaques

dtc must be held accountable to why they removed in the first place, allso are replaceing them or refurbing them.

I doubt it Howard otherwise they would have been done by now.
As Colette's group did the Connaught Park benches in a relatively short time in theory DTC office benches should be in place around Easter time, but I suspect it will be nearer Summer before they are back in position.
