an evergreen problem but the result was hammered home to me today by an octaganerian.
going into town is easy on the bus but the one way system works the other way when oldsters are left to carry the bags back.
unfortunately the town clerk from her parapet has decreed that the benches outside the town council offices have been removed to discourage oiks

How is that helping Dover Town and the people here ?
It seems that we are here for the benefit if the Town Council, rather than the other way round. A massive precept for a Town Council, what is spent on benefitting Dover or the residents ?

i have never seen anyone behaving badly on those benches, normally it is just people eating something they have just bought from a bakers.

The oiks win again if because of their bad behaviour the seats were removed, punish everyone for the tiny minority! how crass is that?

there is a full town council meeting tomorrow the 15th at 6 pm, open to the public - would be good if this subject is raised.

I believe that they've been removed in preparation for the installation of new benches which are coming sometime over the next 3 or 4 weeks.

suddenly appeared on their facebook page neil but they only refer to the town centre and not outside their offices.
we shall have to wait and see, i don't see the point of removing the old ones so far in advance of putting down new ones.

i have tried to go through the minutes on the town council website but just get 404 page missing - or something similar.
i am assuming the matter was discussed before the benches were removed.

The ones outside the building under the windows did attract a lot of pigeon poo from the roof but the ones against the shop wall were OK..

looks like a conspiracy of silence on this one, someone knows the answer but us plebs are not deemed important enough to know.

Possibly another ill-thought out decision by council officers which has come back to embarrass councillors.

i can't get any response from the politburo/elitists peter, rest assured i will not let the matter rest.
phil the pitbull from the express will be contacted in time for him to intervene first thing on monday.
we have/had many town councillors on here and it is very rare for any of them to contribute.

Instead of removing the benches, could they not just have put up a notice saying No Riffraff?

ah yes the gourmet evening peter but not the case here. oldies wanting to catch their breath and others wanting to chomp on their pasties frequent said benches.
will be contacting phil (the pitbull hayes) to further the investigation.

some say the problem is that one is red the other blue much the same as deal, i have to say that when i contact ddc they reply except for car parking of course - the town council is very much a secret society.

I dont agree Martin. If some one on the Town Councl would fnd the benches.perhaps progress could be made .DDC have a dfferent role to DTC.
