Keith you came to see me in the Age Concern shop for a general chat nothing to do with the council and I do not think you were even a councillor at that time, you certainly never announced yourself as a councillor. I always took it as being nosey to find out what I was like as a reasonably new member of this forum.
I have NEVER needed a councillors help so why bother them, they always say they are so busy. some are brilliant some are a load of c..p, I will continue to vote for one of my Town, DDC and KCC councillors as I know they do their best for my ward the other ones......who knows never hear anything about them.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Andy, your friend was lucky that the man made it to the toilet!
Last summer they were on that bench and the police were talking to them in their usual "matey" manner when one of them just sat there and urinated. The police got a bucket of water and a mop, from the bank I assume, and cleared it up.
After which, the officers carried on their "first name terms, best buddy" conversation.
To say I was irked was an understatement!

"if you havnt seen/spoken to your cllr have you put yourself out to introduce yourself to him/her?" - Very true Keith.
I get calls and emails from people all the time and work as hard as I can to help - the vast majority to their satisfaction. I'm always available for people to contact me, but of course not over night.
I don't recall you asking me a direct question Alexander about traffic on the Folkestone Road, especially in regards to the Farthingle (CGI) development.
I would have consulted Kent Highways direct if it was not allied to a specific planning application and even if it were, they would have been asked their view.
I contact various DDC departments to get issues resolved even when they aren't in my ward, some started on this Forum.

i think alex may be referring to a bit on here where the subject of children living on the folkestone road drifted off the pavements into the road.

I was referring to my daily toxic pollution, Howard.
Roger, isn't the Forum a convenient place to convey a concern over to you?

In most cases yes Alexander, but a comment just in passing, wouldn't necessary make me contact Kent Highways.

Well then I'd say, Roger, that building more houses out in the countryside would generate more traffic from these houses to the town. In the case of Farthingloe, this would generate more traffic along Folkestone Road, beyond doubt.
As you know I live on the Folkestone Road.

Quite what this has to do with drunks in the market square I am not sure!
Alexander, did you live on the Folkestone Road before the bypass was constructed, when it was the main road to the port with lorries thundering down day and night? Like a country lane now compared

Simon, I lived in Malvern Road then, which connects to Folkestone Road.
The lorry traffic stemming from the Port then was a shadow of what it became later.
But your phrase: "Like a country lane now", really ought to be put to DDC Planning in support of Farthingloe construction.
It should hit the headlines!

alex,dddc/kcc could allways demolish all houses up folkestone road and put a 3 lane [both ways] moterway up there.then try and call that a country lane.

With the Traffic Management Plan for Folkestone Road that was put in place a few years ago and has made the road more dangerous, still needs to be able to take traffic - freight, vans and cars, when the A20 by-pass is closed for whatever reason.
I'm sure that from Farthingle, it will be quicker for people to join the A20 dual-carriageway into Dover, but until I see the Kent Highways input, I'll make no further comment.
As Simon has said, this has nothing to do with drunks in the Market Square, so let's get back to that.

Alexander, I would be delighted if my phrase could be used in support of such an obviously advantageous development at Farthingloe. Advantageous to Dover that is.
I will see if I can amend my supporting documents to reflect this, but I doubt I can now!
Howard, did you notice any wheel barrow tyre marks in the snow?

alex
market square is actually thriving, a fully refurbished cafe, the new indoor market and a new shop being worked on. excellent choice of coffee houses there and in cannon street too.
