I mean pointless Roger.
Take Dover, how many parish, town, district and county councillors do we have and at what cost? It would we wrong to say they're all useless, but the system is outdated and far too expensive, they serve no purpose.
God knows what planet Tom lives on, he says the blame can't be placed upon the addicts. Does someone tie them down and inject them?

District Councils..........we have four in East Kent.
The management teams in all four Councils cost 50 % of their wage bill....we only need one management team to run East
Kent.
The other economies of scale of one East Kent Council will produce savings in the millions.
An added bonus is with an East Kent Council we do not need a Kent County Council, another saving in the millions, and all the
many Councillors who are now expensive and not fit for purpose.

We are each our own Gulliver. Beached upon a coast of a land we can know little of. [I could have made merry with the word 'little' there, but missed it...oh well on we trudge...]. Some of us discover that we are tied down by pointless politicians, aided and abetted by taxmen and wishy-washy judges. Others amongst us live to regret the initial surge of excitement and adventure, and the thrill of the hunt. That was all part and parcel of illicit drug taking. Teens love to make choices and because they are teens many of their choices seem ill-advised in retrospect, but only few that stigmatise their future lives:drugs and perhaps the being on a railway embankment in company with somebody that carries an air riffle.
I'll bet, that in much the same way, the Market Square sees more of the cigarette smoker than it once did, much more too of the groupings of the remnants of that habit, that if viewed forensically would seem like certain evidence of mass murder had they been shell-casings and not fag-ends.

I'm holding true to my Christian Faith party: all Prosperity comes from High, we must always be subordinate to the High City.
Love and fellowship must always come first and thus rule out the idea of angry or indeed violent methods towards others.

Thats fair enough Alex, the fact remains UK has a massive problem revolving around drugs, something has to be done and it can't all be love and fellowship.

By all means let's concentrate on Councillors expenses, far better than knocking on about what Kent excels at. Topping the league as it does as far as council official's pay-off are concerned.
As the Telegraph was happy to point out 135 council officials had received pay-offs in excess of £100,000, last year. With the five from Kent over the past two years accounting for £1.2m. [that is 30 thousand times £40, btw]

In the 9 years since I moved back to Dover met/seen one potential councillor when they were canvassing at election time, possibly because he used to post regularly on this forum.
Shows how they all take their seat for granted where I live.

Politicians, Jan. They'll promise the moon to be elected, but once in, you'll have to wait the next 4 years before such an occasion comes round again.

It works both ways, Alex/Jan. if we don't seek them out and tell them what we see as important, how can we expect them to represent us properly?

Peter, I tired explaining to Roger about the traffic problems along Folkestone Road, pollution, cars, cars, cars, and yet, alas, Roger still thinks it's worthwhile building houses at Farthigloe.
Then we tried a petition...

I think it's unfair to tar all cllrs with the same brush
some do work hard, and are around all the time not just election time.
if you havnt seen/spoken to your cllr have you put yourself out to introduce yourself to him/her?
