Have you noticed how bad its getting in the Market square area.Yesterday i witnessed around a dozen drinkers and a few known drug addicts hanging around outside Lloyds TSB on the benches. The police came onto the precinct and the dozen all scurried off in different directions only to regroup once the police van was out of site. How intimidating it must be for people wishing to use the cash machines and this surely cannot help businesses in the Market square. All very well having enforcment officers to deal with fag butts but this is becoming a serious problem that must be dealt with. The same group were later seen sitting around the grave stones in St Marys passage.A good friend of mine recently had to escort an old chap to the public toilets as he needed a pee but was frightened to go in the toilets alone as there was several drinkers complete with staffordshire bull terriers hanging around in there. It seems the police are losing the battle or have they just given up?

things had started to improve when there was a purge in pencester gardens but gradually they all return much the same as ever and there are simply not enough police to cover the town.

Get Dover Police Station re opened get local officers patrolling their manor, have enough officers to target problem areas, not rocket science is it! Yes it costs money but we are talking quality of life here.

Alexander I too have never had a problem, even if they have had a staffordshire bull terrier with them.

Maybe its not a problem to you or to many of us that still have the ability to look after ourselves but seriously its not a good situation if you,re out alone or elderly.

In the past I have often been verbally abused around the market square late at night, just for being there. But it ceased when the barracks closed.
It's much better than it used to be, but I have walked late at night in places like West Beirut and felt less uneasy.

Well I saw some people sleeping out in the cold tonight, with cardboard sheets and a quilt.
If there are any street pastors on the Forum willing to help out, I can let them know where to look.
It's going to be getting very cold soon, they say.

I have never had a problem with them, but I suspect they consider me to be intimidating....

These oxygen thieves are the scourge of society: we house them, feed them, clothe them and give them enough money to buy mobile phones and strong lager, to cap it all we give them drugs. And what do they give in return - they walk around town spitting and swearing and intimidating people. If a man landed from Mars he wouldn't believe it.
I have the solution which I recommend Cllr Watkins takes up:
Employ two men, one with a wheelbarrow, send the other to Jeremy Stattersfield for a humane killer, you can work out the rest.
And let the good folk of Dover applaud as another waste of space and money is wheeled through the streets to the tip.

A policeman in New York, fairly recently, stopped Bob Dylan in the street and as he was not the best dressed, a little distracted of attitude and had no money on him the cop was all for running him in as a vagrant. I'm not his biggest fan, but still I don't think it good PR to inflict euthanasia on him either.

Whats PR got to do with it, every town has useless drug addicts that cost us a fortune, locals see the same faces day in day out.
I'd call it execution, your choice of euthanasia is probably more apt, if we're concerning ourselves with PR.

Well, if we skip PR and go for objectivity instead, perhaps we should aim for the world as depicted in 'Logan's Run'...
