Vic, post 40
"Dover needs a class upleft"
Totally wrong!
What Dover needs is councillors who are not intent on trying to replace local Dovorians with a new people who they try to import through migration.

Better upright than upleft.

Up-lifted and separated...just about sums the whole thing up.

Well yes, Vic, why should we have an imposed class society?
The local Government ought to be there for the People it represents.
It does not have a solution to unemployment, wants to do away with many of our Green areas to settle more people here, and gives us the impression that Dovorians are not good enough.
Anyway, Vic, what is your definition of a "class uplift"?

"A man has been charged with the murders of two Big Issue sellers stabbed to death in front of shoppers in Birmingham city centre. The man, who was arrested shortly after the attacks on Friday, will appear before magistrates in Birmingham on Monday.
Wayne Lee Busst, 32, and Ian Watson Gladwish, 31, both from Birmingham, were stabbed outside a supermarket on Friday just before 6pm in front of hundreds of people. Police said the two men were likely to have known their attacker..."

Alex has a point, I probably was a bit OTT, wheelbarrows aren't cheap and in these tough times we need to be careful. Consequently I suggest we give the oxygen thieves a stay of execution and on November 5th present people with their very own live Guy.
The wretches are full of alcohol and drugs, they'll burn beautifully.

Keith, theres loads of talk here and elsewhere about cuts to the disabled and elderly, we waste billions on drug addicts that take drugs by choice, which could be spent elsewhere.

Love it David - will you be including Councillors in your contributions towards a good bon-fire ?
Tom, who do you consider full of wind and P155 ?

What a great idea Roger, where's Mr Fawkes when you need him?
Its an impossible task but I'd love to know how much politicians at every level in this country cost us each year. Add that to the amount we waste on addicts and income tax would be zero.
I believe politicians are well intentioned, but 99% are pointless
I'd start a thread on it but Howard gets upset.

The sad fact that the current war on drugs is wrong headed and costly, the blame can hardly be placed upon the addicts.
While the taking of drugs, as with so much else, is a choice to begin with. Addiction is the absence of choice;voting Conservative, being but one other example of being lost because of a choice made long ago.
These individuals may well be drinking to forget, but is their consumption such that we all forget pretty much the same things?

Do you mean pointless or useless David ?
The costs of Councillors (Town, District and County) and MPs, are published annually (I think the Express printed them last year), but I can't remember where you' find them now.
FOI would get you them - or Tom will find them, he's good at that sort of thing.
