Folkestone Road Community Hub reopens

Thursday, 15 September 2016
The Folkestone Road Community Hub will reopen today (15 September 2016) after a summer break.

The Community Hub is held in the Clarendon and Westbury Hall, Belgrave Road, Dover. It is a place where residents can access information and advice from a variety of agencies, and at the same time take part in fun activities for young people and their families to promote cohesion and integration.

The hub, which will be open Thursdays from 5.30pm to 7.30pm, is a chance for residents to get involved with a variety of community projects.  The hub is funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner and led by the Dover District Community Safety Partnership and Dover-based charity Samphire.

The opening will include a free barbeque and activities for all the family.  A range of games and arts and crafts activities will also be available.

Nadeem Aziz, Chairman of the Dover District Community Safety Partnership, said: "We are pleased to see the Community Hub reopening after the summer break. The Community Hub project has been launched to bring members of the community together, and provide an opportunity for them to interact and gain a greater understanding of their issues."

Caroline Browne from Samphire said: "We want to invite every member of the community who live in and around the Folkestone Road area along to the Community Hub this September. It is the perfect chance for people to get to know their neighbours and for us all to work together to address community needs and celebrate community diversity. I hope to see you there!"

A programme of events will be set up in the hub over the coming months, after consultation with the community and those attending the hub.
