Jan, if only our political leaders were to abide by your maxim.
Reg, if only other contributors to this thread had your political abilities and the wherewithal to elucidate them instead of resorting to the tiresome rhetoric of party dogma.

The next generation have every right to a future............
Exclusive: Young people 'want UK to stay in Europe': Four in 10 adults aged 18 to 24 are 'firmly in favour' of membership, poll shows
Younger voters view free movement within the EU as a 'two-way street'
Young Britons are significantly more pro-European than older generations and fear that leaving the EU would jeopardise their job prospects at home and on the Continent, research suggests.
A "generation gap" has opened up in British attitudes to Europe, with young people who have grown up with the freedom of movement reluctant to give up the right to pursue career opportunities in other EU countries.
Younger voters are also more worried that politicians' aggressive language towards eastern European migrants could stoke up community tensions, according to the poll for the British Future think-tank. Sunder Katwala, its director, said the survey showed younger voters viewed free movement within the EU as a "two-way street".

Four out ten is a minoriy who want to be in the E.U. .Do the majority of six want to leave the E.U?? I must ask Sunder Katwala the author of the survey the answer. ?

that survey surprises me as i thought most of our young would be in favour of staying as they have no recollection of what life was like and also the false promises made to the rest of us. bad news for the pro union coves.

Well, what else would you expect from a foreign, left wing political activist, who also writes for the Guardian? Also a member of the Fabians, enough said really. Zero credibility as far as I`m concerned. But I do wonder who actually funded this particular "poll"?
Also "politicians' aggressive language towards eastern European migrants" ?? By "aggressive" I assume he really means "honest"!

"said the survey showed younger voters viewed free movement within the EU as a "two-way street"."
I think we all recognise that movement within the EU is a "two way street" but do the majority of UK citizens want to use that street unless it is to the more affluent countries.

getting a bit nervous now seeing the attitude of ukip towards those of us of non british parentage.
sounds like we can expect the banging on the door at 2 am with stormtroopers dragging us down to the eastern docks
without even stopping for a cup of tea before being shipped across to join the syrians in calais.
i can see why red ed's dad hated this country so much now.

Not really an "attitude" as such Howard, just saying it how it is. It`s the old chestnut really I suppose about the dog being born in the stable, it doesn`t become a horse does it? If for some strange reason I lived in Russia for a while and had a child I suppose legally it would be deemed to be "Russian", but personally I would certainly not consider for one minute that child to be anything other than English.
The other thing that always makes me laugh is when we hear on the news of "British" muslims getting caught up in acts of terrorism. Sorry, I don`t particularly care what the legal ramifications are, but in my book they`re no more British than Adolf Hitler was!
As for the banging on the door at 2 am., the only person that needs to worried about that is Keith of course!

This disgusting (sorry I can think of no other suitable word) attitude is why I could never vote UKIP,.............
Edit..... I have removed part of my comment but my opinion has not changed I still feel UKIP policy could not be trusted in the future.

Point taken, Howard . My grandfather was Irish, who fought in the British Army..When he settled in the UK.The population was below 40 million. The population now is 70 million..Farage is a descendent of French refugees. The Royal Family are of German and Greek descent, we are all of foreign extraction, whether it is Anglo Saxon or Celtic. It is a fact that France is almost 3 times the size of the Uk with a polulation of over 40 million. Our country is overcrowded with limited housing and infrastructure.I have respect for whoever they are..people are people. I will not tolerate racism.
