According to several newspapers, Jeremy Corbyn wants to negotiate including Isis in any peace talks over Syria.
My feeling is ,you do not negotiate with the murderous fanatics of Isis.
Pam Brivio .Please give me your point of view.

Howard, its worth a shot.Excuse the unintended pun.Pam is involved in CND and the United Nations Association. Clearly someone who looks at the bigger picture. Pam may wish to speak about the Syria issue instead of bin collections, street lights, pavements. With respect the forum is under the headline of discussion forum.

Over the years we have had countless politicos on here Peter and only Keef, Barry and Roger have stood their ground argued their case. All three are no longer members, all the others just make the odd safe bland statement that means very little and don't seem to have genuine beliefs. Belonging to fringe organisations does very little for anyone's credibility.

Some sweeping statements there Howard.
Keith and Barry were good at arguing with each other but not much real information recently as they were no longer councillors.
Roger W and Paul W gave us some very useful information in the past when they could, are they no longer members?
I would not call the CND or the United Nations Association fringe organisations regardless of whether we agree with them or not.

Blue Barry stop posting after Keef and Reg left. no real surprise. Watty still posts but Roger last posted about 4 months ago and before that there was a break of about 3 months though he is still around and voted for the closure of the pier last Monday.

Am happy to answer questions where possible Jan. I could have added to the Pier debate but did not want to prejudice the Planning process.

Good to know you are still looking in Paul.
Regarding the pier many feel the DDC Planning Dept sold us out but I do not want to start the debate yet again.

Lucky George Osborne got away without any scrutiny by the Labour party today. The ill advised stunt by Red John the Shadow Chancellor of reading and throwing towards Osborne,a copy of Chairman Mao little red book..Chairman Mao starved and murdered millions of people in China..The faces of the Labour party were unhappy and Osborne could not believe his luck.

Just to give everyone a update..Susan Hill, one of the main speakers at the Open Dover,Open Europe,Open Borders and Welcoming Refugees march, which took place in Dover on the 17th October.Wrote a letter to the Express, its in the 26th November edition..Sue in her letter did not mention or sign her letter that she is a Labour DDC Councillor for Buckland..Even though Sue was the main speaker at the march, she must be shy or modest about her position..
Cllr Hill defends her position on welcoming and resettling refugees in Dover and that she has lived in Dover all of her life. Incidently Cllr Hill lives in Temple Ewell..She also states that she is not a Leftwing extremist.Which maybe true.
Cllr Hill states in her opinion that it is a positive step for refugees to be welcomed and resettled in Dover District.
I assume Cllr Susan Hill of Buckland has canvassed the people of Buckland and Dover District for that consensus of opinion..
At the moment it is planned for 12 Syrian families to be resettled..At the moment not a big deal..I assume Cllr Hill is getting her spare room ready in Temple Ewell.
It is worth noting that the Housing Waiting List of DDC consists of over 4,000 families..I wish that All local politicans campaign and rectify local problems first.

Not really interested Peter, cannot say that for everyone on here but lack of posts to this thread suggest it is the consensus!

I don't think many people have a problem with a dozen or so families from the refugee camps bordering Syria being rehoused in the district. As a side issue I note that of the 3 councillors for Buckland, 2 live in Temple Ewell and the other in my ward.

I like many others get fed up with continuous knocking of people as it gets us nowhere.
I will add that it is possible that Sue Hill was giving a personal opinion in that letter rather than having her political head on, not that I really care either way.
Genuine Syrian refugees deserve all the help this country can give them.

We should welcome those in genuine need. But in the meantime we should use our foreign aid budget to make their homeland a place to which they would wish to return. They mostly don't want to make Britain their permanent home.

#99 Peter has articulated many good points. In my clumsy way I have tried to say that Genuine Refugees should be welcome throughout this thread. My reservation is , How many is viable for housing/services to cope.
After the news on Sunday where Mr Cameron and EU leaders have committed €3 Billion to Turkey , for Turkey to help in the refugee crisis and for Turkey to be fast tracked to be new members of the EU..Turkey has a population of 75 million.
Perhaps the headline on this thread should be changed, to Have the Conservative and Labour party changed their immigration policy?
