VIC;
You told me recently you were giving uppolitics, you know I feel health wise you
should, you have a life to lead and a lovely wife to look after.
You had many plans for visits over the years.
You appear now to have back tracked on all this.
On the question of local councils pleased don't be fooled that UKIP will not want you as a cllr to push there beliefs/policies, vic your pulling wool over peoples eyes.
On the question of political parties, lets be clear its unlikely the 3 main political parties are ever going to stand down, or not stand, and don't forget UKIP is aso
a political party, they are NOT Independents.
HOWARD
You are correct the cllrs are made up of people who dont work for whatever reason or run business's and can afford time to be there or some working cllrs thsat cant commit lots time because of work.
There is no real answer to that, you cant wxpect cllrs to hold down a full time job and then committ a lot of time at council meetings to.
As VIC says theres no real accountable(apart from ballot box each 4 years)
and there are some realy good cllrs on District and Town.
The question is how do you get those that are not performing, to perform?

many questions to answer there keith, yes there are many good town and district councillors.
alas, to quote paul the forum fuhrer far too many chocolate teapots, we have two in our ward that represent the district.
do you really believe that victor would really quit politics?
it is not an election without his passion and outspoken views.

howard
VIC did have many plans for his future.
As I say HOWARD cllrs are unaccountable apart from at the ballot box each 4 years, like you say some even survive ang get re elected even when they have done little the past 4 years.
I'm a great believer in;
1; candidates should live in the ward they represent to give a real good feel of the ward, but sadly all parties struggle to get enough candidates for all 45 seats across the District, and end up with cllrs that dont even know where the ward is.
2; finding a better way to make cllrs acoountable.

I am standing down from the chair on Friday.I do have plans for myself and Lesley over the coming years.i will still be in UKIP and voting for them,will I ever stand again?I would not think so the public of Dover in local and the Gen/Ellections over the years have turn me down and I feel that would not change if I went for it again. The lights are still on but dim.

HOWARD/VIC
There you go HOWARD, Its my view that VIC does have passion for Dover and you dont have to be a Cllr to work for Dover.
VIC is clearly seeing the signs on the electorate, and his future, but also his own health.
At the end of the day your health comes first, sod the politics!!!!
and of course your family.
I suspect as you do howard that vic will stand again, but my thoughts are that for his own piece of mind, his family, his health, he shouldn't.
But hey, this realy is up to VIC
Good luck VIC whatever you decide

Vic it was fun while you were on the stump, but quite frankly your retirement marks the death knell for UKIP in Dover. Thanks for the journey mate!

i reckon the new leader will be either forum member john buckley or that roger chap that used to run the game restaurant.
Not me Howard! But if the person concerned accepts the position then it will be someone of high quality and substance. ( that must be worth a couple of pints! )
