It is about time the little people made theirself heard, and say enough is enough, we are fed up with buying the cheap s*** from abroad, get back to the nuts and bolts here, produce and make our own, all we need is a small start,
If a small shop could start the demise of the Town Centre then the small shop must win it back, Tesco was only small when entering the town, once it had taken trade away from some of the other food stores with its cheapness, it enlarged, and decided to open a food and clothing outlet in Pencester, gradually the other retailers started to feel the pinch they could not cope with the prices that this place was putting out, then what did they do move out of the town, another was B & Q helping close our small hardware stores, then doing the dirty and moving once again out of town, not everyone has a car and can get to these places.
Stop some of these stupid rules imposed upon us by our foriegn counterparts

good post sheila - spot on about the likes of tesco and b & q.
one of tesco's tricks has been to run free bus services to/from villages, this then forces the local shop in these villages to close.
needless to say the free bus services are taken off.

I do hope this meeting goes well with lots of the public turning out, also you need shops and companys to be there. Just hope that it does not turnout in a shouting match of what should or not should be done,it should be about the fundng you have now and what funding and support you get from companys etc and how that can help the town. But keep both feet on the ground and do not let the head run away with it,That has happen to myself many times and still does at council meeting.

Vic you really are going soft
Come along, I guarantee it won't turn into a row or a slanging match, its not a council meeting, its a group of locals doing their best for the town, we need your input.

I will think about it, but for the last two years I have been trying to get parish council to set up outside gyms for the public they can be used all year round and by all ages from 5 to 95 I have worked alot geting it up and running one of the councils are doing when there is funding but they have made a start. One council does have a very small one I am hoping that will get bigger in time but It is very hard going with making headway with the other two. There is alot that can be done about the town which would only take a small funding, but I did have ago at it when I was on the town council some years ago but than the town council were trying to help, then I got voted off the council and it did not get off the ground.Must say I have taken alot of stick over the years and I do not feel like going down that road again.Thank you for asking

Vic, I would have thought the Big Local team could help with the outside gym idea possibly in Pencester, must say they look great fun whenever I have seen them on TV.

Mrs Higgins they are and lots of + with them because they are for all the familys I went to the town council last year about puting one in the parks but they did not get back to me,and "Why" it is because my name is Vic Matcham. I have company after companys who make them put them up ,coming to see me I have taken them all around the district I even had some of their equipment down and had it working on a River events day and the public loved being on them also had the companys down talking at meeting about it all ,I would love to help in geting some put up in the town and the district two years or more I have been working on this one, only last week I was in Spain they have them all over the place even on the sea fronts they great and just what Dover need ,but again it comes from Vic Matcham so nothing will be done about it.Anyway sorry but that is how I feel about it all.The time it has taken to get just this far with it all and it has been a wast of my time.

The Big Local is nothing to do with Town Council or DDC, why not contact Ross who is chairman or go to their next meeting.
Sorry all to side track from the Town Team but I thought Vic needed to be directed to a more appropriate group.

Oh it hurts, biting one's tongue when such a wonderful quote is crying out for a comment...
That's the best laugh I've had Jan since Dave lost his banners...

I hope it goes well Mr Little, but as I can do nothing to help this cause I will not be there. Thank you for asking me.
