Alexander, you are very welcome to come to the meeting.
Everybody, yourself included, is very busy. Your project will require tens of thousands plus hours and hours of research. The Town Team has neither, so unless or until you prepare a business plan there really is nothing to discuss

Keith, I've been presenting elements of a business plan here, but have stated from the start that such a project requires more general interest from the Community.
One person alone cannot be expected to present a fully-fledged business plan on something of this extent - in particular when it concerns share-participation and investing funds of investors.
The idea would have to be taken up at a wider level with input from others too as to how to go about it, as stated various times.
I'm not sure if David comprehended this
He speaks for the Town Team, and I'm not going to hang around arguing when the answer is already no!

Alexander
Whilst David and I may disagree on a lot of things, he hasn't at any point rejected your plans, what he has said(if I understand correctly) is that the body he is part of is far to small for such a big project.
As Lesley says the idea is a good one, in reality would it get of the ground is a little more questionable.
Im sure that David would point you in the right direction of advisors on how to present a business plan etc

spot on keith, the plan de la alex is not right for the town team, he would be better raising the issue with charlie who has strong links at the palace of westminster.

and others to approach could be grant funders who have advisors who could help
but maybe presenting the plan at that meeting is a starting point

I'll keep the Forum informed of any progress.
The outline project consists in assessing willingness among the local population to be employed on production sites for clothes and footwear.
To set up a training facility for induction and training, and find skilled people in the trade willing to participate in return for a salary.
Find production sites and purchase machinery and tools of the trade.
Find potential customers for the end product.
If this can all be assessed at paperwork level before any expenses are incurred, that would be satisfactory.
While a pair of shoes made in Dover would exceed in price the £5 Vic pays online, they should still be below the £55 - £85 that Made in India charge in Dover High Street.
And a pair of trousers should not cost more than the £10 - £25 that Made in China charge in Dover.

Incidentally, numerous tanneries in India and Bangladesh are known to dump their chemical waste where it shouldn't go and couldn't be dumped if complying with British Law or Western laws in general.
It contributes to making their products cheaper.
Combined with low wages, it might all explain why so much is conveniently imported from there, and that may not necessarily speak out in favour of the present tendency to import everything from these countries.

Promoting a fair-trade product produced at fair prices in respect of laws and regulations, and that allows British people to find work in our own economy and thus contribute to our economic success, could reap dividends morally and take off and become a national hit.

Sounds great! Hows about fair trade plumbers? Carpenters? Shop assistants? Energy regulators?
Er, fair trade traffic wardens? Distillers? Book sellers? Internet service providers?
Fair trade is about as useless as Ed Balls and his latest wheeze to save the economy by regulating the winter fuel allowance.
Hey there's an idea - fair trade pensioners.

That's not strictly true Keith, we are not business advisers or venture capitalists.
Anyway are you coming to the meeting?
