Pity politics has been brought in on this one.
The Law is the Law and Theresa May did not know it applied to her department.
She suspended three officers doing their job following the legislation in place.
Tuesday,I hope, will show Cameron was too previous to back the Home Secretary in the commons today.
However knowing politics the wrong people may suffer by the ending of their careers.
Must wait and see!

Yes Reg, I shall certainly wait and see. I shall keep my opinions to myself until I am armed with facts, not newspaper headlines, media half-truths and party-political prejudices. Wait and see is sound counsel and I suggest you take your own advice.

facts are important but watching our betters squirm when put under microscope by rumour and innuendo is much more fun.

No matter the outcome of the Border Agency `fiasco` Theresa May`s incompetetance in her handling of the affair includes breaking the rules of Constructive Dismissal which will cost the Tax Payers a hefty settlement bill.
And she is still not of the hook yet.

roger
im willing to accept labour got things wrong on immigration
thus at the time when it got out of hand i took on my labour friends? at county hall
the district, and the labour mp at that time and was proved right in the end.
that said this present CONSERVARTIVE LED government made promises they would have none of this and had lots of tough talk on immigration, and its was made a political issue by the national conservatives.
now they have been found wanting, not so tough and all talk.
SARAH P
So you see it's fine to show even handed ness on this subject
but at the last general election the consevatives promised they would sort
teresa may with barryw's daves backing has proved she is incompitent
and relaxing the laws?? blimey what is realy going on??
when do the conservatives realy stand on immigration?
tough talk no action
latest news shows that

The Home Office is regarded as the `Grave Yard` for Ministers.
Clever move by Flashman.................If the Border Agency don`t get her....the Reshuffle will.
She takes her place on the Ministers Buffoon List...........Must keep updating the list, but its a lot of work!!!!

your previous posting in relation to the bbc programe is not dsputed
my point being since this time we had over a year a tough talking conservative general election saying they woud be tough on immigration in fact they are quite the opposite.

# 74. ....................Nice Shoes.................perfect fit!
Theresa May suspended three very experienced Border Agency Officers, potentially distroying three fine careers unless she gets the chop, because they followd legislation set out for them in 2008/09.

So you are saying then Reg, that Theresa May blamed the wrong people and it was the last government that was to blame for something they did in 2008. Maybe she did or maybe the officials poorly interpreted what the Labour government said, we shall see. Odd that I am in a way defending the last Labour government. I suspect the problems lay in governance issues arising from Labour's reorganisation that left the officials able to interpret the rules in an inappropriate way. If so then she was right to place the blame where she did for that interpretation, she was and is clearly angry.

barryw;
i think it is you that needs to see through the wood
your teresa(like other tory ministers) have once again been found wanting.
whichever way you look at it
if she was unaware then thats a clear lack of leadership
but this appears to have a bit of a sting in it for teresa, sounds like although dave went int the last election saying he will sort out immigration
teresa has given 124,000 immunity and lost them
and relaxed many rules.
