Yes these kinds of figures really get the heckles up. The oul House of Commons Select Committee under Keith Vaz are having a terrible fit at these figures. Much huffing and puffing on TV today. Much consternation. A whole mass of illegal immigrants FOUR times the size of Dover's entire population are lurking in the undergrowth somewhere near you...unaccounted for. Not good.
Keef there is another thread on page 2 on Immigration and I made a post on there about the good initiative the current government have made with regard to dodgy education colleges...
Roughly here is a bit from it :
Ah!.... just heard ..302 colleges have had their licenses revoked completely..a further 170 or so have had restrictions placed on their operation. Thousands and thousands (11,000 at the last count) of Non-EU people were coming in using this route...so a good move by HMG.
I believe the 11,000 figure repesents the amount of Non-EU people coming into these colleges YEARLY. A huge tightenting up was needed...we are seeing this now.

the figures showing how many have disappeared into the system are quite frightening and the u.k. border agency seems to have placed them all into a file that will not be acted upon.
naturally the top honchos have awarded themselves bonuses for this at the same time as front line officers are made redundant.
There was a programme on TV last night.....England on the Fiddle or some such title....
False NI...Identities...Passports....etc etc....absolutely amazing, from people who proport to know nothing, do not speak English, and claim ignorance about any wrong doing .......
The sums of money fiddled were amazing.....
It is so facile for Mr Sansum and the political arm to claim points on all of this....when all parties follow the same policies to keep wages down etc...Labour and Conservatives should hang their heads in shame...I never count the Liberals who are always busy sitting on the fence.....
Frankly, it is no wonder the Country is struggling................

i must admit i nearly fell of my chair watching it mr norman.
the bloke that had a house and farm in normandy, his boat that he wanted 25 grand for was priceless, the culmination of his actions being claiming incapacity benefit whilst crossing the high seas single handedly to the azores.

It must be pointed out though for those who havent seen the programme, that the worst ones mentioned on the programme, the worst benefit cheats, were of the home grown indigenous species and not immigrants....like the guy with two sailing yachts and a farmhouse in Normandy as mentioned by Howard still claiming benefits..and another one with a Rolls Royce and a big business in the West Country...but still claiming benefits and with a council flat in London.

Keith, with regards to post 1, DC has just about lost all credibility. His iron-cast pre-electoral promises are not worth the paper they are written on.

The situation with those abusing the immigration system has been going on for years under all governments. I just hope that those dealing with the illegal immigrants now get their finger out and clear the backlog.

Jan, the 124,000 were the backlog, and they have been discharged from the files now.
Apparntly D. Iron-Man had promised prior to the elections to bring the backlog down to 0.
So Vince was busy shredding the file's documents and forgetting to shred his own documents in the process.
Result: backlog at 0, job done!

I know they are the backlog and as I understand it not discharged more a case of put on the back burner. What I meant was they clear the new lot quickly.

The UKBA have purposely let non EU citizens through on many occasions it seems. Just waived them through because according to reports today thay havent got enough staff. This falls directly at the door of Teresa May, Home Secretary. Despite much talk from the Conservatives on how tough they were going to be on Immigration matters, this has happened under their watch. They cant blame the previous government on this one.. which has become their standard repetitive response ad nausea.
A radio report said Ms May was "incandescent" upon hearing this news. Its no use being incandescent with others when the buck stops with you.
This is just unspeakaby serious...just to let citizens from all quarters of the globe through without a check..when a considerable portion of these same citizens have unpalatable unsavoury and downright dangerous aims towards us is just plain maddening.
Labour should call for her resignation on this.

the logistics is the strangest part, let everyone through during busy periods.
surelywhen there are large volumes of people travelling the nefarious ones mix in with them?
yet another gaffe from the home secretary - always someone ele to blame rather then herself.

Paul's post 13 is right. Last night I read an article about what would happen if a war broke out with Iran, because I am really concerned.
What I read was shocking! I was shocked.
It states that Iran has pumped Lebanon and Gaza full of missiles to strike at Israel as part of a strategy if a war ocures between Iran and Israel.
The idea being to be able to strike an enemy country through allies operating right next door.
It then went on to state that the West is full of dormant cells ready to strike from within if a war broke out between the USA and Britain against Iran.

don't get panic stricken yet alex, agree that there must be sleeper cells here in the west but they will be counterbalanced by our lot in the middle east.
as for lebanon and the gaza strip, mossad agents will be there en masse.

I understand the the Head of UKBA could be prosecuted for many offences, including some under the terrorism act.
Prison should be waiting for him.

Roger is right, it is far worse than announced yesterday.
Apparently, the UKBA say ministers gave them orders not to check non-EU passport holders against terrorism and illegal immigrants' data.
Theresa May has now admitted she asked the UK Border Agency to slacken checks on EU passport bearers, but so as to dedicate more attention to non-EU citizens passing through!
Meanwhile, it emerges that a reduction in staff was the real reason why bordr controls earlier this year were scaled down.
It is in fact coming to a major inquiry, as terrorists may have slipped through, and all indicates to a blunder on the part of the cabinet.
Personally I believe the UKBA chiefs are responsible for sabotage. Either that, or they live in Cloud Cucco Land, considering that in Summer Britain was at war in two countries.
This could be the end of Dave Cameron!
