That is not the person giving information to the press or Cllrs on DDC.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

John, forgive me for sounding naïve but if people are aware who the "mole" is surely appropriate action can be taken.

As I said earlier we can all talk to the press, and our friends on other Councils. But at tines we all hold information which is better not discussed.

This whole situation is really beginning to irritate.
Those with the correct connections and friends seem to know exactly what is going on and with whom, while the rest of us are left to guess and draw our own conclusions be they right or wrong.
So much for open government be it only with our tin pot councils, no wonder rumours abound.

that is the problem with the town council, they like to everything under wraps which means that rumours circulate which they don't like.
the current farce comes on top of the "lord warden/freeman fiasco", the "tour bus" farce, the lack of floral displays that we had to rely on a volunteer to rescue etc.
much better to be open and up front as leaks will always occur.

I am not in the "know" either, but I was at the meeting. It is obvious that this is a political carve up of Sue Jones. Nothing more, nothing less.
The weak, pathetic sheep (as I call them) following unquestioningly behind Gordon - and the Tory/Independents putting their boot in to ensure that a Labour Cllr does not get the concession even though her organisation was the only bit left on the table.
This is politics at its worst.
The saddest thing here is that the will of the people was ignored in favour of a political manoeuvre that denied the town of a much needed facility. The fundamentally flawed amendment to the stated 3 resolutions to be chosen from, means in point fact that the toilets stay closed. It shows that these Cllrs are not capable of working for their community, doing good in their community or doing what is right for their community. All they are interested in is political point scoring and doing down a hard working person in her quest to do all of those things.
So, what may I ask happens when the new bids are sought and Pebbles is the best bid, or the only bid? By the rationale presented before us, the toilets may never open unless they are directly dealt with by a Council.
Oh how they must be loving this in Whitfield with the heat turned away from them and on to DTC! This is proved by the impotent posturing by the Chairman.
If there is a God, please deliver us from these awful people.

Just to add - we were the 'business that pulled out' half way through proceedings, which was, as we told the town clerk, because we wouldn't of been able to even have a secure estimate of making enough to cover our costs, even with a peppercorn rent agreement (as offered). Surely this shows that only a CIC, like Pebbles, is suitable to run the toilets! Fingers crossed for seafront facilities very soon!!;)

Simon I wont answer your last line9maybe alexander will) lol
I think there needs to be some clarity here,
Lets take the name out of the person tendering and look at how this silly situation came about,,,,,,,,
Now im certain if it came to light that say one of the controversial cllrs(Gordon cowan)had influenced cllrs. voted, then put in a tender, he would(rightly)have been slaughtered locally and in the local media.
instead it was another Cllr.
now, the monitoring officer(remember he has no legal qualification) even stated it would have been advisable for the declaration to have gone in earlier, and the comment to the press that she forgot??? was never refuted, and doesn't hold water.
Now you cannot just open toilets, so taking this tender away and looking at volunteers
it needs to be well orgsnised like john said. it would be wrong to do it badly and it all fall apart.
I disagree with john that just because hes leaving as a Cllr that he voted against labour, he should have a mind of his own and remember who voted him in to stand in the first place.
it was because of the free vote that he was able to vote the way he did.
now, I understand someone from the town council went to the District to see if the district would run the toilets in shiort term
but if this was correct it was all done behind closed doors, and those able to push this along were not even aware of these actions, so no wonder it failed.
The clerk obviously hasn't come out of this well either,

As far as I am concerned only those who voted in favour deserve any respect from the public as they care about the Town's reputation unlike the objectors who obviously could not care less.
Come the next local election I hope new candidates and the press remind voters of this total cock up by those already in power.

Keith you have a cheek it has nothing to do with leaving I read the papers and voted as I thought would be best for the Town not on the Labour whip, and I believe you are wrong that if Gordon had put in for then he would be slaughtered, yes he would have had a rough ride but the Cllrs would have voted for him. The vote was 10 against 4 ok lets assume Gordon put in for then on that voting. The Tories and indies that were there 3 would have voted against leaving it 7-7 and all down to the Mayor who had already voted in the 4.
This decision had very little to do with the toilets, more about who had put in for them,

For the record those that voted for were Cllr Ronnie Philpott Tower Hamlets,Cllr Pam Brivio Myself Tower Hamlets and Cllr Jim Hood St Rads.

This fiasco really makes me wonder why people like me bother trying to do things to make this town a better place for the residents.
The disingenuous posturing by the sock puppets on here and in other media makes me want to puke
Thankfully the idiots in both asylums cannot get their hands on the Big Local money - not tha it hasn't stopped them trying

Yes John, I stated early on that you are one of the four who can hold their heads up high and say that you voted for the needs of Dover.
Keith I am not really sure if you are right or wrong, but I suppose there is more logic in what John says ie; that Gordon would have won the day. Maybe there would have been some fall out over it, maybe. BUT at least the loos would be open.
People have got to understand that the Council voted on an inadequate and flawed amendment by Cllr Cowan. Pam Brivio had already said that the toilets would remain closed if Pebbles were not allowed to open them. The RFO and the Clerk had said the same (in terms). The Clerk questioned Cllr Cowan twice over his amendment and pointed out the consequence of it. I made a statement too about the consequence of the amendment from the public gallery. The public listened to what unfolded in front of us as though we were in a parallel universe.
We witnessed blinkered politics. Dover is the poorer for having these 14 people in office.
