We have a meeting Thursday and I have a meeting with the Mayor this morning, it is my day off from work.I spend more of my time on Town Council work than I do DDC.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

The reason I voted for Pebbles CIC to run the toilets is that they could have been open in a week or two,by going out to tender again the toilets will be shut this summer, but one of the Cllrs if the rumours are true who voted to keep the toilets shut to stop Cllr Sue Jones and others running it then called a Cllr on DDC and asked them if they could open them. They shut them in the first place,by getting the contractors to clean them and bill Dover Town Council.
Little problem there is the Dover Town Council by putting off the decision to Late September meeting cannot authorise any payment, and there is very little in the budget to get them cleaned the budget was set aside in case the building needed maintenance while empty. The reason why tenders were sought to run a toilet and commercial space was to get an income and because if they were unmanned then every druggy in Dover would be down there and up to no good.
What is strange is that a Cllr contacted DDC to get them open after he voted in fact to close them.

So if DDC think they can take all the plaudits for getting them open then I hope they have the money to clean and man them then perhaps they shouldn't have closed a lot of the toilets over the Christmas break a few years ago.
If you knew what I know,we would both be in trouble!

i don't think ddc are after plaudits as it was a town councillor that contacted district and asked for help and they agreed to run them on a temporary basis with immediate effect a few weeks back.
what is at issue is the offer was rejected out of hand which smacks of petty politics.

John ,A DTC councillor did not ring a District Councilor .In fact my email to DDC requesting that DDC offer help crossed with the DTC Councillors.I think we both wanted common sense to prevail.Like tminded people wanting the toilets opened .In fact I urged that the toilets be opened for the Community Day
Some of us rise above politics .

What an absolute shambles. Finger pointing, accusation, innuendo, all the while taxpayers money has been wasted and the toilets remain shut.
Lets hope local councillors don't discover a brewery and decide to organise a p**s-up.

The will is there from the general public, its egotistical politicians that have neither the will nor the ability to deliver.
If/when the toilets open the photo shoot will be full of councillors wearing chains

the whole issue of dover's toilets has gone on too long now, it was decided a few years back that ddc were stepping back and leaving the running of them to town and parish councils who would be given extra funding for this.
deal and sandwich town councils and to my knowledge all the parish councils have had no great problems, only dover town is where there seems a lack of co-operation.

And so Dover Seafront Bogwatch, part 6732, bobbles on, like a lonely turd at Shakespeare Beach outflow.
There's a funny smell round here...

As it seems so many know the name of the disruptive mystery Councillor/s (who does not seem to be putting the town first) why does nobody use their name.

Name and shame, I agree, Jan. You're either for Dover or you're against it. End of.
