Apart from the inconvenience

to the public with this important facility staying shut, for me the sad thing is all this fuss over a concession that will never make anyone a fortune, possibly just because one person dislikes another.

talking with someone today i was told that ddc offered to send their contractors,, who look after their toilets in town to, add the seafront ones to their list on a temporary basis until the tender business was sorted and were given short shrift by the town clerk.
hard to see the logic on this one.

Surely something like that should be decided by the Councillors.

Someone much raking again
Given that DTC do not have a lease on the building they cannot agree to anyone doing anything to it....

Being an out of towner I've no direct interest in the toilet saga, but that's something I've found strange about this story - why invite tenders to run it if you don't yet have a lease.
Can anyone explain?

gets ever more confusing, if dtc don't have a lease on the toilets/kiosk why did the "the community interest company" tender and as said above why did dtc invite tenders?

Perhaps DDC had no right to divest their responsibility to the community.....?......wee need to find out.........

The lease is in the process of being agreed, heads of agreement were in place - but even for Pebbles it would have been a couple of weeks to agree the lease with the relevant bodies. For the council no lease can be agreed until their September meeting

Ross, thanks for the explanation.
Sue, not quite right, Lydden parish council are on the ball so we're having an emergency meeting this week (it does help that we usually end up in the pub afterwards).
