Travis arrest is not connected to the Saville enquiry according to Radio Kent news this evening.

A Councillor, convicted of assault on a young girl, refused to resign from his local Children's Committee (obliged to tour children's homes), his stance on this matter was backed by Cyril Smith, who in turn was excused his behaviour of impromptu mock naked medical examinations (right, now cough) etc. as being no more than spanking naked bottoms and the like by none other than David Steel. So Eye read.
It is going to take a truth and reconciliation committee at this rate, after quite a few have been sent down.

Cyril Smith is ``alleged`` to have abused children over 50 years ..........Theresa May will be asked to investigate the
``establishment cover up`` over this lengthy period.
Will the wrongful report regarding Lord McAlpine prevent the ``Establishment`` being thoroughly investigated and more
important to be exposed ...yet again.?

the leveson inquiry will look like small beer against the eventual inquiry into these allegations.

# 129......agree....
The late Liberal MP Cyril Smith sexually abused boys, the police said after prosecutors said he should have been charged
with a ``string``of indecent assaults in the late 1960`s.............
Three times allegations were passed to police and nothing happened.
This raises the question of how many ``Establishment Figures`` crimes are being `covered up `?

The other question has to be,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Why would anyone want to cover it up???

BBC to keep Saville evidence secret.....thousands of emails and documents excluded from report.
It essential transparency is order of the day at all times and especially in cases of this nature.
There is too much secrecy and cover-ups especially when the Establishment are involved.

A much loved and respected entertainer in his 80s is holed-up in his home besieged by media;TV and the press. I hope he has had the strength to be open and honest with the Police.
We all may be in need of strength when the whole truth is known, yet it must be for the best that the whole truth comes to light now/soon.
Perhaps the Telegraph can reassemble the team they used for the expenses scandal, or perhaps the Guardian can publish all the emails and have it's readers sift through them, as they did with the Wikileaks data?
To do otherwise is to leave the character of everybody 'unmentioned' in doubt.

Was shocked when I heard this man linked with the scandal, surprised the press are not naming him as they have with the others.

I caught the news and wish the media had kept quiet about the investigations until someone is actually arrested or at least can be named.
I have no idea who Tom and Martin are talking about but am now thinking of all the male 80 year old entertainers I can remember, they are all being besmirched now which is sad.

Many will remain in that state Jan, besmirched, while the openness remains lest than entire.
I think though, that if we the public were to insist upon, or go along with, any let-up of the pressure to have the past culture of child abuse exposed and cleansed we would all be unnecessarily compromised.
From the arrest of and prosecution of Oliver Twist on a charge of theft - and the consequent doubts as to his true character, on up to the withdrawal of PCC candidates from the recent election for their recorded culpability for childhood misdemeanors, there can be many a good soul caught together with true criminals. If such semi-innocents are to find redemption in the eyes of the public they must throw themselves upon the mercy of that same public.
We all shall have to be grown-up about this, the news media - dead-tree and internet - will have to be responsible too, in how they go about their work.
I repeat...

It seems unbelievable that MP`s just walked by when Smith was abusing young people in the Houses of Parliament.
Lord Steel said he had heard the rumours about Smith carrying out corporal punishment on boys but the Party did not
investigate........the mind boggles.........
Also amazing is that the Press did not jump all over the rumours ......when they were not ``Regulated```
If we regulate the Press, more of these obscene acts will have no chance of being punished.
Cameron gets my vote on this issue..................

I think you have the wrong end of the stick Reg. Do you perhaps imagine that the Press knew nothing of the expenses habits of MPs?
Do you imagine that those in the news media as a whole were or are immune from the taint of child-abuse?
Dave is happy as he goes, and happier yet to accrue support from the most unlikely of quarters. While the country pontificates and worries over some statutory regulation of the nebulous ethics or lack there of in the press, the real problem of ownership slips quietly under the rug.
If the news media did nothing when they knew of the child abuse, how is not changing anything about the oversight of the press going to improve matters?
