  Dont know myself Sue, but you cant count on its return, judging by the way they are cutting back on allsorts of things, one thinks of the fountain plus. It would probably cost reasonably serious money to redo.
  
  
  But hark whats this I hear...yes the plaintive tones of the jackhammer drilling lumps out of the new surface. Can you believe it!!...but its true..this is happening right now..

  good point sue, the seafront was buzzing today but for the next 6 weeks(weather permitting) the kids will be there.

  That picture sums up very nicely how tourists, visitors and locals are catered for............with contempt by the look of it.
  
  The benches should have been replaced before last week ready for when the torch arrived.

  THey may n ot have not been put back during the torch event for safety reasons .The large crowd took over most of the sea front .

  you're probably right susan, they would not have been compatible with a large crowd.
  
  hope they're back soon, that photo from paul of the people sitting on the floor did not send an encouraging message to possible visitors.

  Oh Gawd wont you find me a nice seafront bench
  to lie on the pavement is such a goldarn wrench,
  worked hard on my schoolwork all winter long

  I don't know either, but I have written to Nigel (Collor) asking if he can find out why not and if he can't contact them, to let me know and I'll write to them (DHB/Kent Highways).

  Well I never!!..a few seafront benches have re-appeared...hopefully its not an apparition but no, Ive pinched myself, they are definitely here, but so far not as many as before. Perhaps coming back in dribs and drabs. People are even sitting on them!! ..makes a change from lying flat out on the pavement.
  
  Have those councillors above made a difference...well done lads!
