# 101...Superb idea...if when the leader of DDC looks in for `where is it` he could comment on, if this is at all possible ?
....the world could then see ( eventually )Dover before and after our Cable Car is insitu...

No it's not possible. I understand that LOCOG decide the route for the torch. It would have been great though to have given the road a smarten up, but it would only have lasted a day or two, no longer, then back to mess it is almost every day.
I have heard back following my latest emails, that there are a whole range of initiatives to sort out the problems once and for all, but I'm sure that as one is resolved, another one comes along just to stop you getting happy.

all very well having a range of initiatives roger but a massive clampdown is required now.

I know that Howard and all those places I've mentioned in my emails are being visited - unannounced, so they'll see what it is like every day.
Enforcement/fines is the only way, as talking to them doesn't make any difference.

Gawd Bless the Olympics..!!
Further spit and polish applied yesterday to the seafront equipment. These are the benches in the seafront gardens and they are getting a couple of coats of the ould Ronseal..it does exactly what it says on the tin!!

Everything looking spic and span, benches now a nice deep brown...
Its looking good here..you could eat your dinner off the seafront floor right now.

This is good to see but, as others have mentioned, it is a shame it took the threat of international media coverage to spur the authorities on. Clearly they knew what needed to be done but just couldn't be bothered beforehand.
The flower displays in Deal and Walmer look very impressive at the moment!

Re, painting the benches. Were are the sheets to stop the inevitable drips from staining the stone slabs ?

Interesting observation Andy...as the guys painting the seafront railings, yes they are doing those as well, but a different group of guys, have come all the way up along the front and they are using sheets...but then thats on the new surface.
Maybe the stuff used to paint the benches is non-drip !!

lol!
They are leaving no stone unturned in their quest for perfection down here.

It's a pity in a way that more (earlier) attention wasn't given to some of the buildings in the Town Centre and the corners of Bench Street and Townwall Street.

Yes that looks very good there. Quite striking. Both Chaplins and the Dickens Corner make a brave attempt at al fresco too, which should be applauded. Sadly we are not getting the weather for it at the moment but one day soon the monsoon rains will pass and the sun will come out....yes really...
But yes a well done goes to Dickens Corner.
One little extra bit... I see the Norwegian Flag garden seems to have disapperaed on the seafront. It was the raised tilted garden showing the Norwegian flag in flowers, in a central location commemorating the Norwegian effort in the war. Im not seeing it fully but it all looks different in that part of the gardens..nor for the moment can I get a picture....but from my angle of vision it appears to be gone or changed.

ah Im beginning to see whats afoot...since the last post several trucks have arrived and they are offloading metal bars and whathaveyou....it appears they are beginning to build what could be a stage !!
Its all happening, never a dull moment.
The former Norwegian Garden has been flattened I suppose so nobody falls over it...its health n safety innit!
