Sure enough, when one conundrum is explained up pops another. What might be the significance of the alignment of the twin bollards? Hard to explain.. ermmm..the railings have gaps in them for easy access to the promenade for those crossing the road. These posts are featured and aligned to the gaps all the way up along the seafront..what they accomplish I dont know for sure, but there they are. They may have been introduced as markers for those using the cycle lane.email: dover7@msn.com

The pic above taken yesterday. An hour or two ago the wraps came off see pic immediately below, the barriers came down and now its free to human access.

Sue Nicholls said in her post earlier in this thread that we would have flowers in them before the Jubilee.

- 26 May 2012 14:04174782The beds in the sunken gardens on the seafront look disgraceful - chock full of weeds. Hope they aren't going to remain like that for the rest of the Summer.
The beach shingle beds which were planted with special grasses when the promenade was remodelled near the Dover Marina Hotel are also full of weeds. There are hardly any special grasses/plants.

Bet you didnt realise how this was done...I thought somehow they laid a kind of carpet, but no its all done live as it were...
First of all the lay what looks like an adhesive on a grand scale.
then the next chap comes along and spreads the green layer with a brush
then later its rolled or heated into place to secure it down by a slowly moving truck.
Thats my take on it but as i cant put a nail in a wall it is very much a novice view!
