Tell them that I came, and no one answered.

22:3467530Good to see Unite jumping into the fray and making the usual unionistic claims. Their 1970's style intervention should speed up the sale process.

16:3367626Sid Perkins,
I hardly think that whatever the local union does, with regards the sale of the port will make one iota of difference. It will not be the unions who will be the problem it will be bloated fat cat Tories eager for there share of the bonus pot.
You cannot have it always as you would wish, for example we have a tory government with there lapdogs the liberals. You have a tory local MP full of eastern promise. I am willing to bet that in five years time we will still be on the forum asking for a knight in shining armour to save Dover.
We have had a fine example of tory government this week. Immigration has increased by 200000 not bad for a government who have been in power for less than 4 months, and still they blame the labour government. and what of that fine upstanding tory power house Damian Greene?? not a peep out of him this week that I am aware of or is he to busy working out his expences??

17:1067632the immigration figures are for last year jimmy, however it seems clear that littlw will change with the new administration.

17:3267636Howard,
Figures taken from the "Times" dated Fri 27 Aug 2010!! one would hardly expect figures for the present year now surely.

17:3567638That's a fine, measured and grown up approach there Jimmy. That should move the conversation along profitably.

18:0467648Howard, I make the point again I would not expect this years figures for 2010, of course they are for 2009 any fool could work that out,(I hope). If you have any difficulty do get back to me and I shall try and explain what a "Year" means.

19:0267655Jimmy you can hardly blame the Tories for anything to do with last year.2009.
They were not in power maybe you need that explained to you.

Why did you feel the need to bring politics into what had been a sensible thread.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

08:0567717Jimmy - #63 - That is laughable. You need to think a bit before you post as it seems your illogical class hatred of the Conservatives has got way, way ahead of reality.

18:0867802would it mean that The Dover Harbour Board would not own all those nice flats and the beach so firstly if I got one first I could buy one of those flats and secondly we could have beach huts.

18:2767815I miss the old council owned beach that used to be the bit between where the toilets are and the Eastern Docks, it had boat plots, huts and the old lifeboatman selling his paintings of sea scenes. Dredging my memory bank I think his name was Alf. Lost to roads sadly.
