Hi Keith, as the DHB proposals fail to meet the revised criteria set out by the government last year, a 'minded to approve' decision would seem to be quite a dubious outcome and I know of several interested parties who are willing and able to challenge such a decision. We will cross that bridge if we come to it.
In the meantime, we all still have the opportunity to try and ensure that the decision is a 'not minded to approve'
After the membership meetings that were held on July 13th at the Dover Town Hall, a number of members approached to request that, as well as making a personal submission to the DfT at
ports@dft.gsi.gov.uk, there also be the facility to sign a petition. As a community organisation responsive to its membership, the DPPT has now set up an e-petition at the following link:
http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/petitions/36088
Please do sign the petition if you do not want to see the port sold off to private equity buyers, probably from overseas, and also write in to the Department for Transport, let them know what you think about the Dover Harbour Board's privatisation plans and how they fail to provide an Enduring and Significant amount of influence and benefit to the communities of Dover and Dover District.
