In your post 137.
The answer is, no, the DfT have not accepted my idea.
Vic wrote yesterday that all the representations were rubbish, and perhaps mine was considered as such too.
There is no further debate on the matter from my part. Debate on the issue is over.
So where does that leave your plans on the regeneration of Dover? Back to planting orchards on the Western Heights and 'asking' someone for some money to reset a few bricks ?

If I put the word rubbish that is not what I mean.It should have been that no notice would have been taken of any letters we send, that sounds better.

The Department for Transport has sent me another letter, explaining Most Finally EVERYTHING!
I'll update this thread later on in the day.
This thread, as I had promised, would FINISH all vain and futile discussion on the Port of Dover.
You will know today where we really stand on the Port, where DPPT stands, and where DHB stands.

Astonishing, the DfT tell Alexander first and the rest of the country afterwards.
Can't wait to here the FULL details and not an interpretation - my offer to scan and OCR still stands.

Hopefully when Alexander posts it will put this thread to bed, it has become tiresome and just goes round in circles.

The laughter is already coming from me that Alex thinks the government are confiding in him

I'm not sure where OCR comes into this.
Two paragraphs from my last letter from DfT have already been typed word for word on this thread.
Some people simply chose to ignore them, for all that they explain that Community regeneration depends mainly on DDC and possibly on KCC too.
The letter that came today arrived by email, as my latest request had been sent to the DfT by email.

Firstly, the Port cannot be privatised, as the DHB bid has been rejected.
This remains the Government's position.
Secondly, DPPT is not an available option.

I could do, Howard, and probably will do eventually, as you asked me to.
But the present letter needs to be made clear, first.
I'm in the process of doing this.

Howard, regards your previous post, the first letter came by post, not email, so I can't copy and paste that letter concerning Community regeneration.

The trade in the Port of Dover ie Lorrys, will be half in 15 to 20years time to what it is today, because of all the new bigger containers ships being made at this very time over 200.0000tons each, they will be taking containers by the 1000s ,and some are going to be used within the EU, so it does not taking alot of thinking out by doing that Dover will be hit very very hard. But the cost of fuel and time it takes at this time over long trips two drivers are needed their hours cut if only one driver to less then 10hrs aday, the containers ports are growing bigger by the day just looking at tonights news will show you that the biggest cranes are now being build for the UK containers port bigger than the London eye, there are 20more now on order,so this is not going to take many years, Taking 1000s of HGV off our rds.Dover has seen it best years in the lorry trade it is all downhill now,.

Vic, if you're referring to rail transport for freight, then yes, you are right, and that was one of my proposals to the DfT: to introduce a rail connection to Western Docks for freight.
It may possibly be an available option, for all I know, as I campaigned long and hard for this at the DfT.
