"you do not appear to be aware that the Decision Minister has already made the decision NOT to privatise the Port of Dover."
Not true, Alex. The DfT has merely not approved DHB's transfer scheme under s9 of the Ports Act 1991. Powers exist under s10 for the Secretary of State to instruct DHB to propose a different scheme, under s12 to impose a privatisation scheme of his own, or use the nuclear option of the Public Bodies Act to dispose of the Port in a different way.

Whilst I don't fully support the peoples port proposal, it should be put in with any other viewpoints, and should be accurate as to the latest position.
Funny, Alexander says im not up to date, yet im probably more up to date than he, who is supposed to be so up to date

False assertions need to be countered otherwise others may start to believe them.

I have watched the whole thing develope both in the early days of DHB trying to cling on, to others views on the way forward, to todays view.
It will be interesting to see just how this all pans out,

Alexander believes as he wishes and gets all his numbers wrong, mixing up the old DHB proposal (which is dead) with the DPPT proposals (which are very much still alive), even after having been given the real numbers on a number of occasions. Explanations fall on deaf ears or go straight over the head. I stated where DPPT were at and what we were in process of a couple of months ago.
The process of determining the long term future of the port continues, lots of previously uncharted territory being covered and at the moment there is no outcome to make known (at this point Alexander will infer that I'm lying for some undetermined but nefarious reason). When the outcome is known, it'll be made known and I'm sure that everyone will want to have their say.

I fully understand where DHB are and the future as it stands,
In reality though, as i attempted to point out, looking through the eyes of a minister he has a number of options;
1; Stick with DHB(but will little community support)
2; Go with ASlexanders proposals9even less community support, all good ideas, but not enough to run a port
3; Look at peoples port (some community support, financial backers, business plan) but also hasnt realy got the full
support of very concerned locals.
4; look to someone outside the UK
All could carry out the wishes of the Govt, all in very different ways, but whats best for Dover?

at the moment it is just dhb at the table - they have to make the next move.
i will stick my neck out and say that now dr goldfield is out of the picture a new relationship could be formed with dhb and the neil and peter port(not the one in guernsey). a privatisation with ddpt representation to ensure the local community benefits.

No Howard, DHB is in a state of flux right now, I believe the next move will come from the DfT.

Come come!
The letters from Government departments all speak one word: DHB own and run the Port of Dover and there is no intention to privatise the Port.
There is no other statement to add to this.

It is always the same few people who speak out for DPPT, namely DPPT themselves and a few same supporters, which makes this a non-debate.
It is really nothing worth going on and on about.
