you say that you know all what dppt would do, but can you name their investors, who would manage the port, who would staff it and what their plans are for future expansion?

don 't think so martin for all the talk of community benefits from the department for transport, 400 million used oncers would be too much for the exchequer to turn down in these straitened times.

Howard, in these days of QE, we could pay with unused oncers. Hold that thought.....

post numbers 586, 590, 602 and 607 accurately reflect the current situation with regard to DPPT and the Port of Dover.

Mr Wiggins you know yourself that the port will stay as it is,and will be run by the D.H.B. and that is the end of the matter.Your way was never going to happen and for one I am glad it did not.

Sorry but my post is correct aske around the town support for the plan is moving back towards it staying a Royal Port, and so it should. The History of this great Town must stay in place forever and its port, that plays a great part in that History.

Again you are very wrong the postion of the port ois the same today as it was 400years a go, some will try to say it has but it has not, the DHB is still running the port and that was put in place by the Royal Charter only faces change.

Neil, you may find that Vic's 689 post is right.
The difference between Vic's posts and mine in respect to this, is that I shall prove it through an official letter from the DfT, backed by the Prime Minister.
The only other option would be, that the DfT officially declare that your proposal has been accepted.
Dover and District shall find out very soon, Neil, and it will be most final!

Neil's 688 is factually accurate as matters stand right now. What happens in the future nobody knows but there may be some surprises in the pipeline.

There are some surprises in the pipeline, Peter.
The DfT will clarify.

this has turned into the most pointless thread i can remember on here, anyone supposedly in the know pretending that they know something that is not worth bothering us mere mortals with.
