I have just checked Kelly's fundraising page and the total is now a staggering £379,433 but she still has a lot more to raise.
I wonder how much our over paid footballers, TV personalities and bankers have donated, I suspect sweet F all.

People everywhere donate to good causes.Christmas is well known for this.I used to regularly donate to charities but money is tight these days. One of my charities is The Air Ambulance.During the year I donated to two just giving for local people. My daughter is a director working for Action on Hearing Loss and it's amazing how small children can be helped with implants etc ..but it costs
Looking at another issuie it was on the news yesterday re GPS in Brighton are looking into what. Drugs they prescribe when in fact some can be bought over the counter. This is all relevant .True how many people go to A&E when they should go to their GP.
That's why the NHS struggles and sometimes in the case of this thread re fund raiding is necessary.
For people to get the treatment needed.

I have just read that John Ashman has already managed to raise well over £5000 in a couple of days which is an astonishing amount, well done John.
For those that do not know he is sleeping rough in this extremely cold weather to raise money for Kelly. He started in Dover, then on to Canterbury tonight he will be in Ramsgate, Margate Thursday finishing back in Dover on Friday.
This is his Facebook page

John Ashman's 7x7 rough sleep has already raised over £11,000 for Kelly
John is on the last leg here in Dover tonight through to midday tomorrow - he is just down from the Town Hall, why not pop down and support him and support Kelly.
His live streaming sessions on Facebook have been viewed all round the world and his just giving page has had donations from as far afield as Australia and the US

He has raised far more than he expected, no praise on here could ever be enough for the amount he has managed to achieve.

A a consequence Kelly has now raised the funds to cover the cost of surgery in the US

Here is the latest from Kelly that was on her Fundraising page......
"Hi everyone, it's Kelly here. I'm sure you've heard the good news that we almost have enough money for the surgery!
I know lots of people have been asking when we'll be going to America for the surgery, so I'm just going to give a little update...
We're planning on going to America in June as there's a lot of planning to do. Although we did say that the surgery would cost $500,000 dollars, this is only an estimate that Sloan Kettering gave us and there may be extra fees on top of that, so our plan is to carry on fundraising until June (also to fundraise for the immunotherapy). We have to book flights, get our visa sorted, find somewhere to stay too which may take a bit of time.
I'm also hoping to do my GCSEs before we go. I've been waiting 2 years to do my GCSEs so this'll be the time to do them as there's a little bit of time!
Luckily at the moment my tumours are stable and the new chemotherapy has shrunk them a bit and they're showing less activity so as long as my tumours are kept stable, we won't be going until June. However if there is a significant increase of activity or size in the tumours then we will immediately be going.
Thanks very much everyone, I'm so grateful for your help and support! Lots of love, Kelly ❤️❤️❤️ xxx"......

Right let's look at what the ppl of Dover has donated ,Now perhaps our 2 esteemed councils could match what the public has given ,Just think if they donated £1 from every household this lovely young lady could get the full treatment ,, Cmon DDC let's see that a heart pumps in the powers of office ,,But won't hold my breath

Re the above post .The Councils cannot donate to every worthy cause..Idividual Officers and Councillors can but most tax payers have there own which they may wish to support.

I would not be happy if my council tax money was used for charity, however deserving that charity might be, as that would be at the expense of one of the council services.

I find it rather unfortunate that someone has used this thread to snipe at the council, plenty of other threads for that.

From Kelly Turner Fundraising
......"So I am pleased to announce that a night at the Oscars with Kelly Turner not only made my feet sore where me and kelly were dancing all night hehe but we made a lovely sum of £1308.79 towards Kelly's fund. Well done to everyone that came and supported and was generous enough to donate. Thankyou to everyone who helped in the evening and to all the businesses that donated. Big love to you all. I have a few more ideas up my sleeve to help kelly. Thankyou to everyone again. A truly wonderful evening and a good amount raised. - Kay Blue"........
