 - Keith #20, nobody is ever totally impartial about anything it is called having a view or opinion, I suspect there will be others on the planning committee who will go to the meeting with entirely the opposite idea. Another thing opinions can change when an alternative views are heard. - -----------------------------------------------------------------------
I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

 - I worded my posting very carefully so as not to give a bias Keith, I am neither for or against it, but have made a number of observations and raised some questions; nowhere in my posting is any there bias or predetermination.

I wouldn't expect you to be supportive of anything I do or say Keith; I know what I have put - if you would rather me not post on here, or give a view because I am a Councillor, or because I am on the Planning Committee, that's fine, I don't have to post or contribute.

I have this morning written to the planning department about the porta-cabin pharmacy being prematurely put there. It'll certainly give me more time to do other things.

to me i dont care if you post or not
certainly before today i have congratulated you when i have agreed with
but you have to take the rough with the smooth, more so as a cllr(i know iv been there for 25 years)

I merely point out how your comments could be seen by anyone involved in this application both for and against once a decision has to be made.

 - The planning committee follow the `advice`...more like the instructions of the Officers....the Hospital is a tragic example...

I remember a `certain` planning committee members contribution being ``All we need to do is clear out the drains`` and

another `certain` lady`s contribution being ``I have never seen a puddle two inches deep on Maison Dieu``....when in fact the

Officers knew it was on a Flood Plain...the majority lack basic construction knowledge and ability to ask the right

 questions........

 - therein lies the problem, planning laws are very complicated and do the councillors on the planning committee have enough knowledge and experience to make a judgement?

 - Howard;
mine was advice, to an observer the words used indicating the application will enhance the area)(100 hour service, plus a store etc) to an impartial outside person would give the impression of support for the application.

Now the best route if any doubt is let officers see the article and advise

 - Keith, you might not care about Roger posting but I do and expect others care as well so Roger please keep your informative posts coming.

Howard, I doubt it but they have got the experience of life which should help a little, I would hate any unelected official having the final say about anything.

 - # 31...Officers do not make the final decision ever ...because when it all goes pear shape their answer always is ......

...``The Council decided``..........but they always ``engineer`` the decision .....all Councils are officer `lead`........

 - Reg I agree with you about "they always engineer the decision" but thank goodness they do not always get the answer they want be it right or wrong. - -----------------------------------------------------------------------

 - Each planning application that comes before the committee will have a recommendation - for approval or refusal; we do not follow blindly that recommendation, but make our own minds up.

 - Keith, your comment: "to an observer the words used indicating the application will enhance the area)(100 hour service, plus a store etc) to an impartial outside person would give the impression of support for the application" is not quite what I said, which was:
"What is it that people are objecting to ?
A new bigger longer-opening hours chemist
A new bigger greater choice convenience store
Many new medical facilities that may enhance and enrich people's lives"

The above are facts, not opinions.
