it appears that only when ddc got involved with regeneration talks on the site that anything actually happened david.
though i an happy to be corrected by someone with first hand experience of what actually happened.

Beaving away at what Sue?
Looking at Roger's list, which is a mix of white elephants and non starters, I suggest they beave a bit harder

are you clear now on the buckland issue david, maybe wanting to give a tiny bit of credit where it's due?

Credit for what Howard?
A company asks if it can build some flats, DDC say "yes ok". Whats the credit for?
Roger is beginning to remind me of Comical Ali the Gulf War, he says the DTIZ which is no further forward than it has been for years, is an example of how DDC is regenerating Dover. In that respect he is correct, its a perfect example, they're not.

a government department spent untold millions in getting nowhere david.
you are just sounding vindictive because of your target managing to induce a developer to produce a high quality product on a site that had been almost forgotten about.

Howard it seems we agree, the fact a govt dept spent untold millions is the crux of the problem, people are great at spending other people's money.
All I ask is honesty and communication, we've all known for ages Travelodge are skint, last week a rep of DDC sais everything was fine with the DTIZ. You've seen out of my back window Howard, it clearly isn't.
I really don't know what the argument is to be honest, DDC is incapable of regenerating the town, anyone who argues otherwise is deluded.

Indeed David , you are right DDC will not regenerate Dover, only the private sector [or in partnership with others] will .
DDC put in place the planning policy, policies, CPO powers for it to take place & where possible acquire those sites to prevent that blockage. The market either responds or not. The market will respond if it sees economic benefit. DDC is not preventing retail coming to Dover Town Centre. We regularly trawl the retail names that the public would like but Dover's economy does not match their investment profiles. If it had we would not be having this discussion. They would knocking at our door not the other way round.
The DTIZ scheme is a Bond City scheme that received majority public support when consultation took place on the original & revised scheme & gained majority public support at planning stage. DDC owns sites, Bond City pays the planning/development costs not DDC including CPO costs & CPO acquisition costs.
DDC will be the decision maker on the housing site next to your property and project work is currently underway. .
I am happy for you to come along and go thru. the list of sites/projects & detail to you the constraints/policies[not DDC's] that can prevent development that the regeneration department assists major applicants to deal with. You questioned Roger on how that matters. I'll give you the answers.
I won't give you information that is commercially sensitive or divulges other people's business.
You know I make access easily available & a phone call is all that is required.
It's up to you now.

David, there is a DDC Scrutiny meeting where a regeneration update is to be given to the committee. Members of the public can come along and ask questions.
If you would like to come along and ask questions about regeneration, please do so. I am happy to give you the date and time.
Of course you won't get given any sensitive information as I'm sure you will appreciate (as Paul has said above).
Roger
PS: I am not deluded, I am honest and I have communicated as much as I can.

Thanks very much Paul, I appreciate your offer. I'll send an email and hopefully we can meet up soon, the thing we have in common is what's best for Dover.
Roger, it might be harsh to call you deluded, however you unflinching support of all things DDC suggests you don't always take a balanced view.

David - there are a number of things that don't work well at DDC, but I prefer to work with the Officers/Managers and the other Members, to help put them right, rather than shout out loud in public.
The offer of attending the Scruting meeting on regemeration, is still there.

Are you suggesting people shouldn't shout out loud Roger?
You've lifted your head above the parapet, you are responsible for taxpayer's money, you are accountable to the people of Dover. If you were putting things right nobody would be shouting, there'd be no need.
It seems you're a bit too sensitive for politics Roger, its not all about cutting ribbons and having your photo taken you know, you're here to serve the public, not the other way round.
This is addressed to you but applies to all of them, from the greedy pigs in Whitehall buying duck houses and second homes, down to local councillers who think they have the ability to improve things. All of you need to stop whining and remember why you're there.

384, the borough/district council has been involved in regeneration discussions on that site continuously for 68 years.
