Vic, you missed the significance of the

, I was having a bit of fun with you from something I remember from the forum during your parish campaign two years ago - apologies if I offended, it wasn't intended.
Keith, you're out of date. Town and parish councils are 'sovereign', and provided they operate within the law and are able to justify their actions to their council tax payers they can raise what funds they like and spend it how they like - district and county can't, they are controlled by central goverment.

No I am not offended, but as you have seen one or two persons on the Dover forum pick up on things like this and make it all sound more then it is. I will see you at the next meeting or round the parish again,it was great going round with you last time and a eye opener for myself. And we need to act on what we said.

Ray, out of date, not a chance
Town councils have always had that ability, but the cost of doing so would do little to help there cause.
So has a name appeared, has C.P. found a candidate yet?

Keith, town councils are a form of parish governance, but they are not a tier of local Government in the technical sense.
Dover Town Council actually incorporates a number of former parishes as well as the original town, such as Charlton, Buckland, Guston and a part of Hugham.

This may be correct, Keith, but only on condition that parish councils are also third tier of local Government.

Keith, to be fair, when Vic was a member of another party, perhaps UKIP still did not exist then?
And, in the past, parties changed their policies, so perhaps Vic quite rightly decided, as have many others at one time or another, that the party they once represented or voted for has changed their agenda, and so the changing of party could be determined by the party itself changing policies.
For example, both Labour and the Conservatives and even the LibDems, at one time or other in the past, have promised an EU referendum, but then changed their mind and did not allow it. So many supporters of any of these parties may well have felt deceived.
