would be great if he returned as a member paul, some of his witty rejoinders were the stuff of legend.
example
when there was a shortfall meaning the surplus had been spent he came out with
"not to worry it is probably in someones desk drawer at the back".

I'm sorry Reg. you simply haven't got a clue about how the Conservatives work at District Council level as regards whipping/not whipping.
How many times do you have to be told ?

You and your fantasies Reg
In the 12 years of my being a member of DDC between '83 and '95 we did not have a 'whip' applied and there was no position of 'whip' in the Conservative group. Neither in private or public.

I try to be neutral and polite but it is hard and getting even more difficult at times.

Including 83-95 it`s been going on for decades and will continue in perpetuity.
Strange the `few`continue this charade when all party`s have a `system` to `control`their members but you are still denying what happens in Parliament and County does not happen at District?
Transparency has never been a virtue of Political Party`s and most certainly in the Tory District Party.

Funny that I have never felt I was 'controlled' as a Tory member of DDC or just the Party and when I was Chairman of the Association never sought to 'control' either, far from it.
Control perhaps is something for Labour - that does not surprise me with their collective 'bent' and mania for big government control over all things.

Strange and slightly worrying how members and former members of one party seem to have such an obsessive fascination with the internal workings of the other.

Pointless exercise whipping at County, Labour could only manage 3 seats at the last elections. Main opposition is Lib Dems with seven.
