That Mr. V Matcham is the only River resident that I know of probably says more about me than he, probably.

It was written in response to #79 on page 4. [I had hitherto assumed River to be one of the quieter quarters.]

Getting back on topic, would it not be a good idea in future to give a distinct formal warning of suspension together with the reason on the forum prior to the actual act. This might save some of the resentment that a suspended person feels and forum members would know what was happening, at present it seems we are powerless members when it comes to decisions concerning other members.
Just a thought.

Keith, are you insinuating that I am stirring or are you going against your oft used expression of everyone being entitled to an opinion.

Well Kieth the interesting thing is that I have now spoken to David and he tells me the aside from the few suggestions on the forum that he should calm down, he received no warning that he was in danger of being banned. Indeed when he couldn't log on he emailed Howard to ask what was happening. Howard confirmed that he had been banned.
I would have thought a private message to say that he was in the danger zone would have been in order.
Sue, I feel sure you will have found a withering put down for the village gent!
So, why is David not back?

Is he back yet? I'm sure that he will agree to place the relevant 'health warning to councillors' in his profile so that any sensitive souls will be forewarned not to take it personally

Thank you for the reply Keith going so it seems I am stirring along with all the others who would like to see David reinstated.
With my stirring hat on

. maybe we should bombard Howard with phone calls demanding his reinstatement seeing as that is the way this forum seems to be policed.

I have no problem with being warned, as I think I deserve it sometimes.
What annoys me is when others deserve it and don't get it.
I think I am right in saying that no one has said something so bad as to receive a lifetime ban so why not amnesty for all and start a new year fresh and friendly.
There are many posters being missed by members.

So I'm hearing of another ban could it be for supporting Bern and Sarah P or is it for having the bottle of advising Howard of a mistake

It all makes very interesting reading. Perhaps David has made his greatest point in being muted. Although new to the Forum, my understanding , from history, is that a forum is a place of assembly for the people. Others appear to take a more literal sense of the Romanised court or tribunal. I must say when I joined I was not advised of whose authority I was placing my opinions before. Maybe there needs to be some clarity In relation to the disciplinary process. Is a public forum not open to free speech? Where does political comment become personal insult? I do not agree in any form with harassment and bullying, but nor do I agree with a lex talion approach of an eye for an eye.

sadly having axe's to grind will hardly help
I feel chris(owner) has explained the position
we should remember we are guests on the forum
and whilst freedom of speech is a great thing, if you decide to not take advice then maybe the owners need to make a decision
going over old stuff of people who left the forum themselves(bern)
will hardly help
